I am only going to use the pdfs, if someone wants to make an offline deal with me. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,574 Likes: 7 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,574 Likes: 7 | I don't know how it's going to work yet. My birthday is in September so I'm getting me a present . The PHB alone is $30. The full bundle with physical books is $180. And there's going to be a new 3D virtual tabletop. How does everything tie in? Are we looking and multiple purchases? I need to dig into a lot of things before I decide what to buy.

We old gamers need to support each other. Gaming in retirement is a challenge. | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 23,132 Likes: 13 (Buffalo) Moderator | (Buffalo) Moderator Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 23,132 Likes: 13 | Watched the whole video Nep posted. On the plus side Jeremy and Chris sounded very enthusiastic and eager about the new system. On the minus side I am not sure I am up to reading and absorbing another 1000 pages across 3 books anymore. <sigh>

Ok, Zeim, I am going to watch it. I was willing to ignore it, just because Nep posted it. Really, I had to find the time. Of course watching it will make me want to buy the books.... LOL

I am not reading 1000 pages and never have but I don't think I have ever read any of these books like regular books. I'm going to watch ALL the videos and there are hours of them. But I have time at times now that I'm retired What I'll do is post a quick review of each as I watch them.

That way, I will know if I need/want... who am I kidding... to purchase the three books. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,574 Likes: 7 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,574 Likes: 7 | So I am on the "Master Tier", the highest paid level. It yields the following benefits: D&D Beyond Master Tier- Two week early access to core rulebooks
- Create unlimited characters
- Create unlimited encounters
- Add publicly shared homebrew content
- Exclusive subscriber perks every month
- Host epic game sessions with Maps
- Share unlocked content with other players
I hope that last bullet works for my players

I don't see how I can afford the $$ or the 'brain time' for something like that. If only I was 50 years younger <sigh>

When I designed this cave encounter, I added multiple things to neutralize Whisper, but I didn't foresee swarms of bats which, honestly, have completely changed the outcome of the combat and now this puzzle. Bravo, team. | | | | Joined: May 2009 Posts: 16,803 Likes: 16 Chaotic Obfuscator Moderator | Chaotic Obfuscator Moderator Joined: May 2009 Posts: 16,803 Likes: 16 | | | | | Joined: May 2009 Posts: 16,803 Likes: 16 Chaotic Obfuscator Moderator | Chaotic Obfuscator Moderator Joined: May 2009 Posts: 16,803 Likes: 16 | As a note, Sindar is studying the staff. But he could with the appropriate amount of time, prepare a Dispel Magic. | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 12,842 Likes: 23 Maris Imperium Moderator | Maris Imperium Moderator Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 12,842 Likes: 23 | As a note, Sindar is studying the staff. And may even be more entertaining. | | | | Joined: May 2009 Posts: 16,803 Likes: 16 Chaotic Obfuscator Moderator | Chaotic Obfuscator Moderator Joined: May 2009 Posts: 16,803 Likes: 16 | Oh I agree. Davroar is a Circle of Moon druid so I'd guess he has 3 cantrips, aye. | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 12,842 Likes: 23 Maris Imperium Moderator | Maris Imperium Moderator Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 12,842 Likes: 23 | Just a quick note. Nep and I would love to target the party-split about Oct 1. Which gives us a couple of weeks for RP around Calling Horns. There are a few things you all have mentioned over time that should be done while you're here. Slice-of-life food and drink is fun, but let's not overlook the need to check some boxes: - Meet with Tamalin to collect your reward (and any other info you may want to trade) - Meet with Rory to exchange quest loot to show you the promised secret tunnel - Identify the magic items you've been carrying around. With a party split you may want to know which party they should go with - Any other random plot hooks you may want to follow up on | | | | Joined: Jan 2023 Posts: 8,278 Likes: 21 Coordinator of Chaos Moderator | Coordinator of Chaos Moderator Joined: Jan 2023 Posts: 8,278 Likes: 21 | Just a note. On a weekday (during normal work hours no less), it'd be nice to be able to have more than 3hrs time to respond to an NPC interraction post especially when there is a lot of information to digest. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,526 Likes: 13 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,526 Likes: 13 | So then ... take the time to 'digest' it all before you respond. It isn't a 'speed post' game.
