Having been a junior in high school in 1986 on Long Island, this game concept is hitting close to home. I can tell you one historical thing that would have been happening that summer in NJ is everyone was crazy about the NY Mets. They'd been a really bad team for the last ten years or so but suddenly everyone was a Met fan that year, even all the Yankee fans, when it looked like they had a chance to win it all behind Dwight Gooden and Daryl Strawberry.

I feel like I should scan my yearbook for inspiration because I can tell you, NJ would have the same look as NY at the time:
Boys -- long hair, parted in the middle and feathered out, little mustache, gold chain, brush jammed into back jeans pocket, Members Only jacket, shirt with random zippers in a weird pattern maybe with sleeves.
Girls -- longer hair in ridiculously high sprayed-up shapes, gold chain likely with her name in script, oversized sweater, very tight designer jeans probably a color other than blue, giant purse that would have hairspray can.

Homework project for you guys.

Several of you have been posting links about the greatness of the 80s. I made a Gallery forum in character creation section to keep those resources accessible. The OOC thread will continue to grow and we will lose track of the coolness already posted. Help a GM and move or put those links into the more permanent thread please.

So what kind of cliques we going with so far? I’m going for sitting on the border of brain and oddball.

Barring any vetos from PP, I made a beach bum. Puerto Rican and black, from low part of town. Tangentially connected to theater kids and sports and socially active.

Ken you should read the Backstagers, if you haven't already. Such a fun take on a very different stage crew in high school! Doors to other dimensions, fun, and costumes!

BTW- this week at work has been rough... two people every day have called out sick and it made things a bit hard to spend time working on character submissions. I have started speaking with the first couple people who submitted something but I will be able to do much more this weekend.

Plus, a couple characters gave me an idea to tweak my plot a wee little bit and I am liking it... you won't.

Unfortunately, given the Addams family franchise was pretty much inactive through the eighties, she likely doesn’t have the nickname ‘Wednesday’ from the school. Heh. Although there was syndication. But if she was wednesdayish the apparent behavior would be much more akin to the later movie version than the earlier tv version.

Leaning towards a geek/nerd depending upon which term is least hated at the moment. He plays soccer quite well but doesn't fit in with the jocks because he is a brain.

Well. I’ve photo edited but the base of it was Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Character is Miriam Ackart. Unfortunately it’s hard to find a lot of video of the 15 year old her in the show wolf lake.

Actually' here’s all scenes with her from the one season of that show. As said, face won’t be perfect as it’s been modded but pretty close.

Of course my version doesn’t wear glasses. As about 42:00 to 43:10 might have something usable.

And if it was a school videography project or similar it would be awfully hard to get her on camera.

There was one year of a soap opera called passions, but good luck finding good clips of that. I tried. Most other clips are too old.
