(OOC - Nep - Are we just acting here in whatever order we like? If so, I think Kriv after Arus (so they can have light down there) then Davroar, Zhu, Sindar, and Jaliera?)
Who knew being in slippery muck could be so much fun. He wasn't fastidious by any stretch of the imagination, but this was certainly much messier than his usual night out.
OOC: I like the suggestion for use of inspiration. 1d8 die for the first 3 to go down the inspiration plus Jaliera. Great song Aqua!
(OOC - So, Bern, Arus, Kriv, and Jaliera......BTW, we do have light. Most of those who can't see in the dark received "Light Coins", they just won't use them because they somehow think it will make them a target. Though why that would be true for enemy creatures who can see in the dark and can see them anyway I don't know.)
OOC: It is a bit chaotic suddenly. There was an order that you established but then Bern slid down the rope. I could take that as his action (2nd) after Arus like you decided earlier. That is why I didn't resolve yet. MikeD can keep his inspiration point roll and still go 2nd. Why don't you all tell me what you're doing and in what order. Just let me know what you all settle on.
And I still need athletics and acrobatics rolls.
How many of you are on the rope at the same time? If the 3rd person down falls, he could hit the two people below him, etc. Please provide all the data before I process
MikeD, Bern used his inspiration. Jaliera still has hers which she can use now or hold onto for later.
(OOC - Most of it depends on how long it takes to slide down the rope. I think original order was:
Arus, Bern, Kriv, Davroar, Zhu, Sindar, Jaliera. Since Bern jumped the line I guess just swap him and Arus. Kriv was jumping I believe and, if needed, Zhu was going to Misty Step herself and Davroar. If so, then it seems as soon as Arus is down and moves up next to Bern, then Kriv, Davroar and Zhu can all go almost simultaneously. Also, as none of them will be taking up space on the rope Sindar can start climbing down as well, so in effect 4 people can all go at once.)
(OOC: With Kriv jumping, the intent was to action surge on landing. I'd like to see Arus receive the answer to his parley request on the offchance that it isn't a spell or ranged weapon, before committing so that we can get the most out of that. It'd be rude to start killing them as a diplomatic opener. )
(OOC - Well, you'll have to wait for him to move up 5 or 10 feet to get out of the "landing zone" so you don't drop on his head, so that'll give him time to talk.)
As I said, 2 rounds to go down by rope. But it depends more on how many are on the rope at the same time. Let's get the sequence and plan straight. I only want to Napalm the PCs that make it down in the first "round".
(OOC - OK, so everyone chime in if you don't like this:
Round 1 - Bern first, then and Arus, 1 round apart on the rope, so Bern is 15 feet down while Arus is just holding it at top. 2 - Bern reaches the ground at the same time Arus reaches 15 foot mark on rope and Sindar gets ready. 3 - Bern moves away to not block the bottom as Arus reaches the ground and Kriv jumps. Simultaneously Sindar starts down rope and reaches 15 foot mark. 4 - Arus and Kriv move away and Zhu Misty Steps Davroar and herself to the bottom. Zhu and Davroar moves away from landing zone while the same time Sindar reaches bottom. Jaliera starts down and reaches 15 foot mark. 5 - Jaliera reaches bottom.
Never more than one person actually on the rope at any time. Naturally no plan survives contact with the enemy so subject to change.)
[[ While Nep is busy, I'll highlight that he did ask for athletics and acrobatics rolls (for the rope descent) so y'all could help him out by doing those. I think Bern has rolled, and the Misty-steppers are using other transportation but there are a few more rope-sliders to go. ]]
OOC: Clarification. It's not both athletics and acrobatics. It's a choice. Jaliera would have chosen acrobatics because she's dex based. So that's a 23 Bern rolled twice because he had advantage as he used his DM awarded inspiration to get down safely. As for the bardic inspiration, that's rolling an additional 1d8. It will be for MikeD first and I assume that when his feet touches ground that he's taking out his light emitting coin as it's pitch black down there. As for the statement that only one person is on the rope at a time, that is false. For Arus to be halfway down when Bern reaches the bottom, he would have had to start climbing when Bern reached the midway point. DM After securing a rope tightly to the top rung, Bern is able to start climbing down into the depths of darkness. Since he cannot grasp the coin and the rope at the same time, he descends blindly. When he is half way down the rope, Arus begins his climb. The triton has darkvision and breathes a sigh of relief when he sees Bern reach the bottom of the rope safely.
Bern reaches for his coin when he lands but this light does not see further than 40 feet and the chamber is much larger. He can see the murky, dark pool of sludge and a walkway that proceeds straight away and both left and right.
OOC: MikeD, are you doing anything at this point? You have used your "move". You have an "action" and if you have one available, a "bonus action". Grabbing the coin was a "free action"
