The Q4 survey is late! Well before we get into the voting, let's reflect on Q2's results. The following choices received 4 votes each, tying them in first place. - Classic Fantasy
- Dark Fantasy
- Post-Apoc
- Supers
The unsatiable demand for fantasy. Probably explains D&D's continued popularity! But there is something joyously free and easy about fantasy, and that's a good fit for a message game that will be played over many months, years even. It's quite hard to break the suspension of disbelief in fantasy, and you can have big swingy variations in tone, pacing, in theme, so the game can stay fresh. Dark fantasy though? Intriguing! How dark is 'dark'? Did anyone a particular product or IP in mind? Post-apocalypse and supers are traditionally difficult to pull-off, but remain a popular survey choice. Have GMs and/or players become shy of them, do you think? Hmm. Anyway, without further ado, let's get voting! As before you have 2 votes.

It's set to global over the weekend, so everyone should see it (and vote hopefully). Come Monday, 27 Nov, it will revert to a normal topic, appearing only in Message Gaming Centre. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,065 Likes: 9 Wobbly Headed Administrator | OP Wobbly Headed Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,065 Likes: 9 | Big showing for more classic fantasy. In RPG terms, that generally points a finger straight at D&D. Is that what people had in mind by 'Classic Fantasy', or is it something else? | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 76,583 Likes: 58 Wizop Administrator | Wizop Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 76,583 Likes: 58 | Or 13th Age | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,127 Likes: 5 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,127 Likes: 5 | To be honest, there are lots of decent 'fantasy game systems' ... but which one doesn't matter as much as the story and the characters.

Though did anyone have a setting in mind, an adventure, or theme perhaps? Or, did anyone have a fantasy character concept that they were wanting to play? Btw, always up for more 13th Age, Gypsy. | | | | Joined: May 2009 Posts: 15,065 Likes: 10 Chaotic Obfuscator Moderator | Chaotic Obfuscator Moderator Joined: May 2009 Posts: 15,065 Likes: 10 | I have been reading Symbaroum which is dark fantasy. Interesting roll under game mechanic. | | |
