Most Jvrillian contracts to Talesan's Village are one way ... to Talesan's Village and away from Talesan's Village. This protects the merchants who aredoing the hiring in case they get to the Village and don't make enough money to hire guards on the way back.
Thus, as part of the Marketday trading the now contractless Jvrillians look for new jobs for the trip back, making it their hiring day.
It is nothing so formal as stalls and vendors ... its more a case of watching the market and seeing which merchant is doing well and trying to get hired by them before the next Jvrillian gets there first. | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 22,175 Likes: 8 (Buffalo) Moderator | (Buffalo) Moderator Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 22,175 Likes: 8 | and Market Day is today, or tomorrow? | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 22,175 Likes: 8 (Buffalo) Moderator | (Buffalo) Moderator Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 22,175 Likes: 8 | Wolf - Leaving on a cruise and will be out of touch for about 8 days, so ghost for Mikal is you need to. I don't have time to write up a post that's not just off the cuff.
Mikal mentioned Swordmaster because the Jvrillians at the table mentioned one first, btw, and he presumed if there was one that he might be a good person to pass word along.
Letting Kadri answer the question about who actually is hiring, though being non-committal is probably a good tactic there.
I suppose if we need to be out of town by nightfall then Mikal will try to let as many jvrillians know as he can and tell them to come to Waverider's Watch if they are interested and to bring other jvrilians with them, and then we will head there ourselves after an early supper.
He won't exactly tell them here that he is forming a new Troop, but he will tell them he will interview any jvrillian who is interested in work and will hire as many as pass his interview.
During the interview he will bring up the topic of the Troop and that it will be a "mixed" unit, including others such as Dayalans. He only wants those who are willing to work with non-jvrilians and are at least willing to consider working with Dayalans. He expects to have a lot of sexism crop up but isn't looking to take on hard-core male chauvinists that will cause trouble.
Those posting guidelines are probably more time than the 8 days I'll be gone, but in case you wanted to move things along I wanted to paint the outline.

My background material on Jvrillians states that the hold reading and writing in disdain, that their contracts are verbal and "my word is my bond" is a very literal statement for them. Thus they hold memory very important and do not write contracts on paper.

Dazi remembers well how Mikal sneered at her ability to write. (It was early on, they hadn't had time to get to know one another, and all is forgiven.) The only people who field armies numbering in the thousands was the Bankorpool Empire.
Most small Jvrillian troops are between 50-100; Bordertown can afford larger ones.
The task of turning Waverider's Watch or the fields nearby into something that can support even a small troop is something you folks will have to manage carefully, from financial, social, environmental and economic points of views.
it's a very different kind of adventure!

Perhaps it was good, descriptive writing, but I imagined 15k-25k chaos hordesmen versus 5k-10k on our side. From what you just said, was it more like 1k-2k for the chaos army and 300-500 for us? | | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 7,944 Sower of Insanity Moderator | Sower of Insanity Moderator Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 7,944 | Pssst. Bekkah is Daxia's sister. That makes her Bekkah Yurisdotter. Kay and Dandelion and Camelia are the Koromovs (and Erika, but she's way off in Trundle and, from what I understand, you don't want to meet her). (Not that it matters at the moment, but having the information for later might come in handy... or not, as Keiko might just talk to one person to the exclusion of everyone else. YOU DON'T KNOW! And neither do I. ) "Everything is bad except unicorns." -- Phoebe | | | | Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 47,998 Likes: 1 Moderator | Moderator Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 47,998 Likes: 1 | If I'm in a thread with someone else, I go with the 24 hour rule. If I am in a 1-1 situation I will reply as soon as I see a reply from the other person. With a velociposter that could mean several back-and-forths in a single day. In a general setting I try to wait 24 hours to let others reply before I reply to a message. Right now I am waiting on Kadri to reply. | | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 7,944 Sower of Insanity Moderator | Sower of Insanity Moderator Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 7,944 | Right. Nivek is the Sidekick. I do know that. But Niv!! If I'm in a thread with you (or scene, I suppose, since these threads often move different characters to different parts of the geography), I'd want to talk to you! (And now I'm feeling all unloved and everything since no one wants to talk to Keiko. Oh, woe is me!
