[OOC: So who is calling Luminmorn a filthy beast? Sounds like a fine time to check out the Sleeping Giant. Though obviously the dragonborn isn't a subtle person. He would be willing to offer support as desired. Depending upon the plan that we come up with.

Also seems too late to discuss anything with anyone else. Not like they can go to the town hall to get another opinion of the Red Bands at this hour.]

(OOC - Yes. Main question is do you want to take time to rest up and get a goods night sleep, talk to Sildar and some other townsfolk in the morning, and then make decisions, or do you want to do something now?)

(OOC Luminmorn had suggested gathering information first before busting heads. Sleep is also fine by him. But are the other chars impulsive or willing to wait? As a player I think waiting is good but open to either idea.)

[[ the suggestion had been made earlier to stop by the tavern frequented or owned by the redbands tonight to get some intelligence about the group since ... by now they should be well 'lubricated' and so more likely to 'let slip' with useful information. It sounds like that this would be the time to do that ... the question is who should go. Ryssa seems an obvious one to be 'out of place' there. Not sure about how the locals or the brigands would feel about any 'non-human' folk. That sort of thing might be worth a question to our waitress or another of the locals in here. ]]

[OOC: My inclination is no non-humans, other than what might be represented in the town. As it is, non-locals, ie regulars that show up in the tavern will be suspect, but it depends upon how lubricated they are. So I didn't include Luminmorn in the choice making types, unless they want him lurking in the dark for backup.]

Balthazar is ready to go get drunk, or at least pretend. Of course that might be rather amusing since he never has been drunk

[OOC: She wasn't talking about Luminmorn - it was just about Ryssa going with or without a bath - and also an awkward play on Goody Two Shoes and the Filthy Beast as Leslie Caron and Cary Grant in Father Goose.]

(OOC It was a joke with regard to the bath. Your writing was clear.)

(OOC - So, from what I read, only Bern and Balthazar are going to the Tap House. What are Ryssa, Lingo, and Luminmorn doing?)

Lingo

"I'll keep you guys company at the Tap House."

[OOC: Ryssa is bathing... once she is through with her bath, it depends on who is in the common room when she returns there.]

[ooc: Maybe Lingo needs to run upstairs and check on Ryssa to see if she's ready to get going. Just a small, creepy peek ... <gd&r> ]

He emptied his mug and stood. "Back in a bit ... I hope."

He looked to Balthazar.

Luminmorn

"Do you wish my company when you go to the other inn? I could wait someplace and come if called. But would that be a problem?"

He watches Bern go wondering what he is up to.

Balthazar

He got to his feet as well, making sure that his bill was paid and sticking a piece of bread in his pocket for later. He was always hungry being tall and lanky but not as much as Lingo was he wagered.

"Coming Bern." he said, glancing at the Halfling to see if he was coming as well.

Lingo

The halfling hops off the chair and tightens his belt. It was time to start bar-hopping.

"Ready when you are!"

<Bern>

"Well ... I won't tell you =not= to come", he told Luminmorn, "but the consensus seemed to be that 'non-humans' were 'a problem' for 'them'."

When Lingo expressed an interest, an idea occurred to him.

"If you and Lingo want to help", he said to Luminorn, this might be an interesting experiment. You and Lingo wait until we have gone in. Once we are 'settled', you two come in and we can watch the reactions and maybe learn something more then we would on out own. Sound like a plan", he asked the others.

Ryssa


Her bath finished, Ryssa toweled off her body and then spent twice that much time briskly toweling her hair. Once it was acceptably almost dry she headed for the common room to see who might still be there.

[OOC: Probably after the guys have left.]

Sounds like a good way to stir up trouble."

Lingo

"Trouble is my middle name. It usually means fun and excitement." The halfing stands ready to leave. "Lumi here will keep me out of trouble, right pal?"

<Bern>

"Let's do this then", he said with a grin.

DM

It is midnight as the 4 (Luminmorn, Lingo, Bern, and Balthazar) leave the inn. Exiting the front door the group takes a left and then left again onto the side road that leads to the east end of town where you were told the Sleeping Giant Tap Room is.

As you walk you pass a few small homes, now dark and shuttered for the night. The only lights visible come from a ramshackle building near the end of the street. There are two lanterns on a rickety porch and light leaks from under the closed door. The sound of raucous laughter bleeds into the street as the group approaches.

As per plan, Luminmorn and Lingo hang back in the shadows further up the street and allow Bern and Balthazar to go on ahead.

As Bern and Balthazar get closer, they can see a group of about 5 or so humans linger on a covered porch. They are perched on ale barrels or leaning against the wall. They all wear grimy scarlet cloaks.

Spotting your approach, one of the sitting ones stands up and moves to block your path onto the stairs leading up to the porch.

"Well, well," he snarls. "What do we have here? A pair of puppies? What do you want, puppies?"

Back at the Inn, Ryssa finishes drying off and heads back down to a mostly deserted common room. Only a few hard core drinkers remain, most of the townsfolk having gone home to get a good night's sleep before rising to work in the morning. The rest of her group is nowhere to be seen.
