It's a mini-series, only 8 episodes. It just came out and I binged. It's a little less intense but lots of fun. I was totally entertained. Lot's of great dialogue. | | | | Joined: May 2009 Posts: 15,900 Likes: 14 Chaotic Obfuscator Moderator | Chaotic Obfuscator Moderator Joined: May 2009 Posts: 15,900 Likes: 14 | I will have to make an effort to watch it. I enjoyed all of the other series. | | | | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 27,287 She of Chaos Member | She of Chaos Member Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 27,287 | As a follow up, I'm really enjoying The Punisher. Wasn't sure I would because Bernal (sp?) has annoyed me in other things though I expect we were supposed to despise him in The Walking Dead. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 24,728 Likes: 10 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 24,728 Likes: 10 | did you like him in daredevil season 2? I have watched every one of netflix's marvel shows, but haven't gotten to the punisher yet. I liked them all(even the panned iron fist)(but powerman and iron fist were one of the first comics in the 80s I got into when i wanted to read something that didn't have 100's of issues in the background).
i liked him in DDs2 so i figure this will be good... but my time has been limited | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,315 Likes: 6 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,315 Likes: 6 | Don't worry PP ... Punisher only 'released' in the last couple of days <g>

The best part was the interaction with Karen, who is back by the way. I'm liking that the minor/supporting characters are being grown as well.
Also, the rest of the cast is really good including alum from Grimm and Eureka.
And, as Mike noted, it literally just came out. I needed something since I'd already binged on the last season of Longmire and Frontier isn't due out until this weekend. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,315 Likes: 6 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,315 Likes: 6 | Yeah, I just finished Longmire as well. It is nice that the 'closed' all the loops, but it is sad that it is done now <sigh>

Is it worth the binge? | | | | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 27,287 She of Chaos Member | She of Chaos Member Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 27,287 | It's a modern western about a lawman in Montana solving crimes with the help of the his deputies and the native LEO's on the nearby reservation. It is definitely worth the binge. The supporting cast includes Katie Sackoff, A Martinez and Graham Greene to name the ones I can remember without looking it up on imdb. Of recent note, if you've started watching the new Trek, the redheaded engineering cadet is also in a minor supporting role.
Finished The Punisher last night. Netflix & Marvel definitely hit it out of the park again. Hopefully Disney doesn't screw this up for us. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,190 Likes: 2 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,190 Likes: 2 | I'm refusing to pay CBS to watch Trek. After a slow start I'm enjoying Orville which is satisfying my SciFi addiction. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,315 Likes: 6 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,315 Likes: 6 | ividia, ya missed Lou Diamond Philips. One of my favorite characters in the show. But all the characters were well played <g>
Just started Punisher. Ep 1 is on now <g>

One of my favorite aspects of the show was the treatment of the native peoples. They were full, complex people and not caricatures.
Seguing back to Punisher, one of the things that stood out for me was the handling of PTSD in the different characters. It was well done and not used for cheap thrills. In a lot of ways that was heart wrenching. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,315 Likes: 6 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,315 Likes: 6 | Yeah, I liked that as well ... =AND= they actually used Native Americans for those roles!! <g> I still have to chuckle when I watch the old B&Ws from the 1st half of the last century ... Warner Oland and Sydney Toller as Charlie Chan, for example. Native Americans were also mostly portrayed by white actors. Chief Day George being the one notable exception that I remember.
Got called in to work today, so only managed the firs episode of Punisher so far <sigh> Hopefully by the end of the week ... <g>
