Ryssa takes the small golden idol with her. Back on the altar, with Kriv is a chalice, knife, and censer, all of which seems ornamental and likely worth some money. Back in the hallway, Jaliera continues to fight against King Grol and his Hobgoblin ally, with support from Bern's archery. In the bedroom, Luminmorn is bending over the dwarf he just healed. The one Chandan thought looked like Gundren, while Chandan watches from the doorway. The dwarf slowly opens his eyes and after a moment, recognition comes into them. "You!" He exclaims. Back in the hallway, the Hobgoblin and King Grol both attack Jaliera, trying to take her down so they can get to the others. The Hobgoblin's sword cuts deeply into Jaliera's side. Perhaps it is her grunting and flinching under the blow, but King Grol's club sweeps just above her head as she ducks. The dwarf seems to recognise Luminmorn. It must be Gundren then, or perhaps one of his missing brothers.
"Ah! Amazing, Luminorm--- Well done!" He gasps in awe as the dwarf is brought back from the precipice by healing magic.
Again Chandan marvels at this gift, as with Ryssa and Davroar, the ability to heal, make better, to save life. What could be more virtuous?
The monk is too old to learn new tricks though. He has a few of his own, up his threadbare sleeve, but he can only save the innocent by preventing them from being hurt in the first place.
It has its rewards and its costs, as his leg attests to.
"Protect the dwarf!" Chandan says to Luminmorn, the hobbles and hops back through the hallway to support Jaliera.
Two hulking goblinoids tower over the poor girl, perhaps thinking she's easy prey, but she's proving them very wrong.
Recognising the bloody king, Chandan scowls and lunges.
"Hey, King Stupid with Stupid Crown on Stupid Head, it's me again!!" He shouts, trying to draw the bugbear's attention.
Probably not necessary, as he hurtles in with his spear and the highest bolley kick he can muster.
[Chandan hits twice, total of 16 damage!
Zeim, can you check my rolls and see if I'm doing them right? It feels like Chandan's kicking some serious butt since we got into the castle!! (OOC - Neil - If you roll 23 & 19 to hit and 9 & 7 damage you will do good damage. Note: There's no advantage for flanking in 5e. It's an optional rule in the DMG and we're not using it.)Kriv rushes back to support the on-going combat as well. Coming around the corner he can see Bern in combat with a dwarf that looks very much like Gundren, their employer and the one they were seeking to free. A bit above that Jaliera and Chandan are fighting a Hobgoblin and a large Bugbear wearing a dented crown. (AJ - If Kriv doesn't use his action to attack he can use it to "Dash", which gives him a double move. I moved him up further on the map for you.)Bern and Luminmorn can go. Status:

Seeing it is Gundren, he lets flow a bit more of his gift from the Great Dragon. He knows that the dwarf has to be able to walk at a minimum. The Paladin lays hands upon the dwarf once again. "Feel better," he offered.
Luminmorn will heal another 4 points, so 5 total. It won't fix the dwarf, but it ought to make things better. | | | | Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 10,349 Likes: 1 Administrator | Administrator Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 10,349 Likes: 1 | Davroar

She is so relieved to have Davroar by her side and to feel his healing power flow into her. She had been feeling really threatened. However she cannot afford to let her guard down and must continue to fight. She is also aware of Chandan's intervention and suddenly she is not feeling so alone. She knows Bern is behind her too and there are sounds that the others are gathering. She recalls Whisper adding her thanks to the clever bird for fetching help. And flashes a quick smile of gratitude to Davroar also.
Again she focuses on the hobgoblin, assuming that Chandan will keep the bugbear occupied. She now thinks she might have been wiser to use a spell but buoyed by the added confidence of having Davroar by her side, she attacks with new enthusiasm.

Just as Jaliera is buoyed by the sight of reinforcements arriving from all directions, so her foes are demoralized by seeing the number of enemies they are facing suddenly triple. King Grol and the Doppleganger both turn and flee. Jaliera and Chandan can get an OA against King Grol. Bern, Ryssa, and Kriv can get an OA on the Doppleganger. Note: An OA is a single attack roll. If anyone (such as Chandan) would normally get multiple attacks as part of a regular attack action, in an OA you don't get those. Just one roll. After the OA's, if the enemies are still alive, King Grol ran off to the north and turned to the east, disappearing from view. The Doppelganger ran to the south, and out the door to the stairs there, also now out of view. It is up to you if you choose to chase or let them go. After all the OAs are done, it would be Chandan and Kriv's turns first. Status:

However, it is clear either way that neither foe will be killed by the OAs, so it is now Chandan and Kriv's turns. They can either run out of the building, trying to chase down the fleeing foes, or let them go and do something else.
