I told this story once, but it reminds me of a talk I had on my wilderness backpacking/mountain-climbing trip with one of my 15 year old scouts. We were sitting around eating a quick breakfast while packing up the campsite and he was talking about his last vacation where he and his family had gone to the Bahamas. He mentioned his mom buying sandals on the beach, and I innocently asked him if he liked his mom's thongs. He gave me the oddest look, until I realized what he thought I meant.

Yes, I've had to stop calling flip-flops thongs, as well. Mooch is appalled every time I forget. (Sometimes, I "forget" on purpose. )

Blowing in an ear does tickle ....

And that was even worse than tickling ...

How ever I would not look at it as a no win scenario ...

Okay folks ... I need a little bit of help!

Darian and Cesare - Could I have a bit more of a clue what you mean by "explore the town?". It's hard to figure out how to respond with out a little bit more of input. This could be as something as simple as "we walk from this gate to that gate" or "We look for a place to have lunch" or we look for the biggest building" ... anything that at least gives some hint of a possible direction you wish to take.

Celi - your post is one of those that can become a bit problematic.



This is good. For when you get to the well. The problem is it's for when you get to the well ... you never actually said you are going to the well or when you are going to the well.

In both cases I prefer not moving player characters here and there on my own, especially since you folks often go places I don't expect!

What? You've never wandered about a town? Not even being touristy, just looking at new stuff. We were at the market doing what was needed then had no more pressing business or people to see. It's a bit late in the day to start on a hunt.

Nope. Wolf isn't the wandering-the-town, touristy type. Nope, not him. Driven and full of purpose! Ahhh. No. Well, I think we did do some touristy things that one time we went out to Seattle, but... hmmm... yeah, I think it was just that once. In the entire time I've known him.



And... sowwy. Won't ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER do it agains. We promises.

Is he one of those ppl that has to schedule every minute of a vacation?

Well, I suppose that would explain why I go on vacation by myself. I'm pretty sure just sitting around my brother's family room doing almost nothing would drive him bat sh*! crazy. Me? I AM doing something... I'm having fun teasing my brother, chatting with my sister-in-law, catching up on what the niece and nephew have been doing (my niece is in Africa at the moment), and what all our mutual friends have been up to... which kinda looks like doing nothing from the outside.

That Wolf is a smart guy

Wolf doesn't... wander. If I wander, he will follow, but I don't know that he'd be particularly happy about it.

I can understand that; all I'm asking is that you throw me a little bone here ...

As I said, it doesn't have to be much ... just any little hint to the direction you'd wander in ... you may not even make it there, but just some hint that will let me say "oh ... if you go that way you'll find this ... if you go this way you'll find that ... walking down this street you would meet this person ... wandering past the well at this time of day you'll see this ..."

well, actually, they did agree between themselves to look for alternate ways out of the city should the need arise, so I think it wuld be natural for them to head in the opposite direction of the gate they came in at...was that through an eastern facing gate? then west

FYI... it's registration time for our marvelous students, which I'm sure is a lot of fun for them, but not so much fun for Mokie. Busy, busy, busy!! He'll be back when the really weird registration-related problems stop.

I seem to be holding everything up, as Daxia has been presented with a moral and ethical dilemma, and it may take me several days to determine her appropriate course of action.

Sorry, Niv... my drugs don't work that way. I'm already having to deal with a world without INDOOR PLUBMING and energy weapons. You want me to be happy about temporal anomalies, too? Nooo. No, there's only so much madness I can take before my head explodes and then there's gray matter all over the place, and who's going to clean THAT up, huh? Nobody, that's who. So when I come back to life as a Zombie, I'll be a terribly annoyed Zombie. And I'll come looking for you, Niv. Well, after I take care of Wolf and Mooch for not cleaning up the mess.
