Lots of folks like to play their highest cards on the first turn, risking someone collecting points for the whole row if the choice is unanimous. However, all it takes is one defector for the strategy to play off. Weez decides the 1-point rows are too enticing to pass up and snags Row 4 with her 4. Once again, players are split low, middle, and high. Gypsy and Weez take advantage of the wide open vistas on Row 1 to dump low cards, while Argus and Exeter unload those dastardly middle cards while they're comparatively safe. And AJ, as usual, throws caution to the wind, playing high and trusting that others will spread out. Although there's plenty of space on Row 1, both Argus and AJ decide they like the 2 points more than the 4 open spots. Argus spares AJ the trouble of taking those points, while Exeter follows on with a guaranteed safe play, as the third card rather than the second. Gypsy takes a small risk but has plenty of space as the fourth card. Argus is in the enviable situation of having the only guaranteed safe card on the board! Of course he plays it, filling Row 1. While not a guarantee of safety, the likelihood of anyone intentionally busting Row 2 is infinitesimally low, and he takes the fourth spot there. Weez hold her breath and grabs the last spot just in time. AJ is not so lucky, ending up third in line and collecting 15 points, while Gypsy is relieved to have played high enough to avoid the carnage. AJ, Argus, and Weez all play low enough to undercut Row 1 and risk the 3 points. AJ ends up adding them to his total as he swipes Row 2 from the board. Gypsy plays high on Row 1, hoping someone else would come between 31 and 70, but her hopes are dashed, and she's 8 points the wiser. Exeter tries to land in one of the empty spots on Row 2 but it seems to be missing. With a full board, players were split on intentionally taking 5 points (if they could) or gambling on taking 7 with a chance to avoid them. Gypsy decides the sure 5 is the better option and swipes Row 4. AJ was willing to bust if he was the only one doing so, but otherwise played high enough to escape those points. Weez ends up at the front of the line for Row 1's 7 points, to Argus's relief; while Exeter does a similar thing as AJ, ensuring if anyone else played there he wouldn't score points. The only difference it makes is whether Gypsy follows him and Exeter onto the new Row 1 or lands on the old one. I chose the former to make my spreadsheet easier. Argus is stuck high again, this time with 9 points on Row 4. Weez sneaks in behind to end the game.
