what I am reading is that the Guard Captain and the blonde initiate are stationed at the doors as gatekeepers. Slink is in the gallery overhead.


the position of daxia and whoever has the greatsword (rishka?) are not clear except to say they are occupying the location where the guard captain normally stands for Court-

re-reading again- this table must be really long and span quite a distance across the room so that the finely appointed merchant types try to go around it to get to Kisa. and are stopped to be disarmed at some distance from eleni and then called before her. thus leaving eleni, they have to go back down the length of the table to get their weapons.

the same for the brementown merchants and guards- deposit weapons, make their petition, step aside to pick up weapons Wolf's post then indicates they go all the way back to the doors carrying their weapons and belts. then the attack move on daxia.

That is going to create some chaos- but all four of them are down there... Hard to wade into that to assist Daxia(not that she needs it against one, maybe two- but all four? And a Greatsword in close combat is not helpful- awesome for the ceremony and display of power though.

am i right to assume that all of this action is then happening at the far end of the Hall, away from the noble sisters?

Kel's sketch is almost right on ... simply rotate the table 90 degrees and move Eleni and Lyric off center and towards the dais.

Cesare could be anywhere between the far end of the table and the doors

Cesare also has the ability to appear elsewhere when he needs to and this seems like a need to me! Not sure how far he can travel though.

With the table rotated, that changes a lot. I will retract my post until the GM has answered all the questions.

My questions are: (1) which side of the room is the table, left or right... or is it in the center of the room? (2) What is Rishka doing that I didn't account for?

And then other people have their questions, of course.

whichever way Eleni and lyric are facing, Lyric will be placed on the side closer to the general populace, that way, when Eleni glanced at her sister during GM's post she didn't have to lean to look around the Minstrel.

And I would like to voice (YET AGAIN) my ire at the lack of notifications about posts from DreamLyrics. Sigh. I received a notification for Phoenix's last post, but not his first one after mine, nor Wolf's, nor Gypsy's. It's quite annoying.

GM mentions carafes of water and kavass on the table for the meeting and that all remnants of breakfast had been removed before the doors were opened-

Are there cups? tankards? glasses, given this is a nobles keep? plates for food or no food set out for these face to face meetings with the khorall?

<GRUMBLES LOUDLY>

Phoenix's post that has a timestamp of 08:05 PST sent a notification that arrived in my inbox at 14:05 PST. I really hate to keep complaining about this, but I rely on notifications to do anything on DL. This isn't a place where I can sit all day. This isn't a place where I want to sit all day. It's just not comfortable. That's why I am scarce.

Okay. Fine. Whatever. Just breathe. It's all good (not, it's not, but maybe I can convince myself).

I've uploaded Wolf's sketch of Snowgate Keep's Hall to the gallery. I'll repost my somewhat revised post later.

I'll copy this to Pak Kel, no guarantees but I can ask.

I've already mentioned it to Pak. So... <shrug> It is what it is. Right now, it's an annoyance. Come January or February when I (hopefully) manage to get back into the swing of things, it could turn out to be an actual problem.

in my SCA days, I was our local Baron's bodyguard.

Once a Knight of higher rank - a Duke I believe - approached our Baron, in court, forgetting he still wore his sword. When I stepped up and stopped him he went:

"HOW dare ... oh ... uhm ... yes ... right ... sorry ..."

while the post is in for proofreading, I'd just like to note I truly enjoyed everyone's posts in these two threads, and while I may have not been able to specifically address things directly in the replies they were all much appreciated!

This post should close out the courtroom scene, your next posts should finish up any last thoughts and then prep for moving on to your next goal

Folks!

I have been following the conversation in the aftermath of the Court. And as best I can tell we have two things going on:

a) A desire to join Tomomi and Bekkah in the market, which is the court by the front gates plus the first part of the ring-road leading up to the keep.

b) Yet it seems that the conversations in this thread have not quite wound down. I know Lyric is some of her own mulling matters. I really like it when folks talk together, but then there's the issue of figuring out just when the conversation is over.

I am loathe to just move you to the Markets without properly ending the Court thread - I'd rather not create two separate timelines again. So I need you folks to wrap up your words and move on, for if I was to just move folks to the markets I'd be afraid of leaving the characters with matters left unspoken.

I believe lyric is ready.

folks ... considering the time of year ... i'm to take a mental-health break from HWD this weekend. we'll be back to our regular schedule next week.

fair enough. with my recent act of self-inflicted trauma resulting from an ill-fated effort at animal husbandry I haven't had much concentration for posting this week. No matter how much heroic and gallant wordsmithing I apply to the story... chasing a duck around the yard because he was tangled in some plastic netting, grabbing said duck, and then tripping because said duck panicked in my grasp, causing me to fall, and possibly cracking a rib at that moment of 'sudden stop'... the undeniable truth is that it was still a duck and i fell and hurt myself. No problem with a delay on my part.

BTW- the duck survived, unscathed, and once the panic subsided, his pea-sized brain promptly forget he thought he was in danger. And for the record, he never said thank you either.

that duck, obviously, was definitely not related to Anna
