Guys,

I don't know if it's just me or is it more difficult to play when we're all on different turns?

Do we have a general consensus that we should wait for the moderator to write up rolls before we move on to the next turn? The reason I ask is that if we don't wait, we wind up with messages going on to two pages, which makes it harder to check the first message with the scoresheet.

I think it would make clearing the dice roller easier, too, if we showed a little patience.

I think it's a good question. I know that as a moderator I prefer if people wait till I post the summary, and so as a player I tend to wait for the summary before posting my next turn. OTOH, it's not really that much effort to cope if people don't wait.

I do find it annoying when it goes to more than one page, and then I have to look at the first page to see if I've played the turn everyone else is or not, and if there's no summary, I have to find my previous turn and then check the scoresheet to see what I need.

I pretty much agree with you two. I don't have a problem when people get one turn ahead of the summary, especially when they are the last on the turn, but it gets confusing if people are too far ahead of the last summary and scoresheet update. (Unless, of course, they are going to be absent for a few days and want to get ahead so that they game isn't held up while they're gone. I think this is a good idea.) As a moderator, I try to check and update often to keep the game rolling, but I know how difficult that can be sometimes (like at the beginning of Game 12). I like it when everything is on one page so that it is a simple thing to check what you need while you're rolling.

I think Triple Yahtzee is more difficult because there are so many more rolls.

I don't have a problem with your ideas. I was rather annoyed that I somehow ended up 2 turns behind and I knew I'd checked the game the day before I discovered I was 2 behind. So I felt I had to post 3 at one time to ensure I didn't hold anyone up. The 2 makeup and the next round.

I don't mind waiting. I'd rather wait than try to do them 2 at a time. I think it started when people knew they would be out. Maybe the moderators can work something out so if someone wants to do one turn ahead when they are going to be abscent a week they can email it or something.

As a player and a moderator, I can see all angles. I too, like everything on one page for reference when rolling a turn, but I'm not opposed to opening another window to see the scoresheet if need be.

As a player, I play on when possible because I don't like holding the game up. Sometimes, that's before the recaps, but the way my RL schedule has been going lately, I never know from one day to the next what's going on or when I'll be able to get caught up. In My opinion, it also keeps the games running at a steady pace.

As a moderator, I'd rather the players NOT wait on me to recap, but rather, play on and let me play catch up. I realize that may be hard for some folks -- and if so, they can wait on me -- but I'd rather keep the game going than to have it come to a screeching halt. When Blaze checked game 15 the day prior, she was probably going by the scoresheet -- which I had not had a chance to update at that time. The scoresheet showed she was current, when in reality, she was a turn behind the others. My fault for not being able to recap the scoresheet sooner and I apologize to Blaze for any trouble that caused. But when folks weren't posting to that game after I took over, Ily wondered if her Yahtzee scared folks away? So, some were waiting for recaps while other players were wanting to continue.

I guess my nickel-ninety-eight's worth is just that we've been doing things the way we've been doing them all along... and it seems to be working for the most part. If it's not broke, don't fix it.

As for me, well, I see how it goes. If I see other people have posted, I do too, or sometimes, I wait for 1-2 days and if there is no summation and everyone has posted, I post.

Most recently (and maybe what set this off) I was literally going to be gone for more than a day (with a computer issue, it came out to be about 1.5 days) and I didn't want people to wait for me. I just forgot to mention it.

I think there's nothing wrog with people posting moves in advance when the know they're going to be gone. In fact, it should be enncouraged. But posting several turns in one post is quite different from just carring on with the next turn.

Oh, THAT! I am sorry, I only did that when I took my short hiatus to catch up. [Linked Image] I thought it was posting into the next turn. I will shut up now. [Linked Image]

I don't mind too much either way as long as we are reasonable. It does help as moderators though if we delete all the posts that are not needed. I have the score summaries and everyone last post.. but delete the rest [Linked Image]

Okay, here is an etiquette question for everyone.

If we are waiting for one person to post to finish the turn, how long should we wait before we post the next turn? One day, two days, three days, indefinite?

My feeling is that it's moderator's discretion. If the moderator wants to wait, we wait. If he posts the summary and says he's missing a post from so-and-so, we can go ahead.

I gear my posts off the moderator.

I'd say it's down to the moderator as well, but there's no reason why you couldn't post a message to the game thread asking. I often wait when it's near the end of the game and it's coming down to crucial rolls, otherwise I tr and give people a day or two and then move on, but often while waiting I forget that I'm waiting and these things slip.

I've been talking to Twi. It is not looking that likely that she will be back in the short term. [Linked Image] Currently she is in four games: 5, 9, 14 & 15. All of these games are nearing the end.

I would therefore suggest that rather than hold up ladder points, particularly in view that we are appraching a prize award on one of them, that Twi's turns be taken by someone who is not in that particular game.

I am not in 14 or 15 and could happily do those. [Linked Image]
