Whatever movement came from the Kuo-tao under the footbridge stopped. The blood kept surfacing, but it didn't. It seems as though Bern's arrow had taken care of business. If there are other enemies, which you are pretty sure there are, they are not visible, nor do they attack at this time.

OOC: Back to the top of the round. Zhu goes.

Zhu

She sees no more foes to target. However she cannot believe that those two Kuo-toa, alone, caused this much distress to the group, and Davroar is still missing. So, she moves up, and stands ready.

(OOC - Ready an action, cast Fire Cantrip on first enemy she sees)

OOC: Nem, I thought this was it:

Quote
Hi Neptune, Arus was jumping the nearest channel to reach Whisper on the bridge, so I've counted out his double move from his initial position and moved him to where he would get in Roll20, if that's OK.

Did you want to do something else? A double move uses your action.

Gypsy, Yes. She is in darkness, but she sees the flaming sphere. Kinda hard to miss smile

[That was his previous move. grin He just ended up in the wrong square in Roll20 so the post you quoted was me letting you know I'd changed him to the intended square.

He should be able to move and attack the Kuo-ta, I think.

If that all makes sense.]

Ahh. Twas unclear. He can certainly do "something". As Zeim said, no foes are visible. Are you taking an action to "perceive"?

Jaliera

She is very concerned about Davroar. She knows he is alive as his fire sphere is there, probably as a marker for his position but she is no idea if he is hurt or how badly. She wants to run over there with a healing potion but she knows he has some as they bought some from the gnome. She focuses, trying to restore her discipline. Without a target she cannot cast a spell or read from a scroll. So instead she readies her bow and waits for a target, intending to fire and then hide. And she tells herself that she is not a coward, just using good tactics.

[Arus will use active Perception, I guess with his 60-ft Darkvision factored in.

Yay, rolled a natural 1! lol Don't mind me, continue sorry. (I will move up towards Davroar though with a single move. I moved Arus in Roll20.)]

Arus moves up, like a fly to a flame, towards the flaming sphere. As he reaches the natural cave structure he fails to see what lurks there. Suddenly a a grotesque, bulbous creature bursts from the water and attacks him. It tries to bite Arus and then tries to grab him with it's tentacles. While the tentacles miss the mark, it's maw closes down on Arus. The sharp teeth dig into his skin he feels the creature's saliva seep into his system.

OOC: It really should have advantage, but this is bad enough...
Otyugh (readied action: multiattack) biteHit/dam, tentacleHit/dam, tentacleHit/dam, Arus
Neptune rolled 1d20+6,2d8+3,1d20+6,1d8+3,1d20+6,1d8+3 and got 20, 12, 19, 11, 17, 9
The bite:
Quote
If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw against disease or become poisoned until the disease is cured. Every 24 hours that elapse, the target must repeat the saving throw, reducing its hit point maximum by 5 (1d10) on a failure. The disease is cured on a success. The target dies if the disease reduces its hit point maximum to 0. This reduction to the target's hit point maximum lasts until the disease is cured.

Arus needs to make a CON save.

Zhu does NOT get to use her readied action. Since this happened LAST round, she gets to take (redo if you feel you must) her action and take a full turn. Note that the otyugh has 3/4 cover (from their current vantage), giving it a +5 to AC.

The same holds true for Jaliera but note the distance. If she uses a short bow, she'll need to move up at least 1 square to not suffer disadvantage for a long distance shot. Gypsy, you can redo that last move too.

Jaliera

Seeing the creature attack Arus, she reacts on instinct, moving closer to get within range and opening fire with her bow.

Jaliera Bow to hit & damage plus sneak attack, hide
Gypsy rolled 1d20+7,1d6+4,3d6,1d20+10 and got 26, 10, 13, 17

Might be a hit? Might be a crit. Looked to see what the crit range is but couldn't find anything.

(OOC - Unless you have special Crit range it is only on a natural 20, so you need a 27.

Nep - She will cast Slow on the Otyugh. If it fails it should (summary) reduce its AC by 2 and make it so it can only do a Bite OR a Tentacle attack in a round, not both. Speed Halved. No reactions. Also only 1 of Action or Bonus Action)

Slow
3rd-level (as 3) transmutation
Zhuirentel Elendaril
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 120 feet
Components: V, S, M (a drop of molasses)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute
You alter time around up to six creatures of your choice in a 40-foot cube within range. Each target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be affected by this spell for the duration.
An affected target’s speed is halved, it takes a −2 penalty to AC and Dexterity saving throws, and it can’t use reactions. On its turn, it can use either an action or a bonus action, not both. Regardless of the creature’s abilities or magic items, it can’t make more than one melee or ranged attack during its turn.
If the creature attempts to cast a spell with a casting time of 1 action, roll a d20. On an 11 or higher, the spell doesn’t take effect until the creature’s next turn, and the creature must use its action on that turn to complete the spell. If it can’t, the spell is wasted.
A creature affected by this spell makes another Wisdom saving throw at the end of each of its turn. On a successful save, the effect ends for it.
vsOtyugh
DC 15 Wisdom saving throw)

Zhu sees the monstrosity and casts a spell designed to slow it down. Immediately after, Jaliera's arrow flies from the darkness and strikes it. It was a good shot, but hardly enough to kill it.

OOC: Jaliera's shot is not a crit and I forgot to remind you that you still under the effects of the bane spell. However, even with that in the mix, there's no way she misses. Zhu's spell She does 23 points of damage to the monster.

And finally the DM's dice cool off....
Otyugh Wisdom save vs slow
Neptune rolled 1d20+1 and got 3

Davroar is up and Sindar can go too.

Sindar

"Why you underhanded loathsome slime tentacled beast of an abomination," he calls at the creature, unleashing magic to amplify the effect of his words understood or not. He finishes crossing the bridge to move towards the other bridge.

Vicious Mockery; Wisdom DC 15, 6 psychic damage if failed
Cautious Move no save needed 15 feet
Sindar Vicious Mockery on O
Pandemonium rolled 2d4 and got 6
2d4 damage.

Otyugh Wisdom save vs vicious mockery
Neptune rolled 1d20+1 and got 3

Damage recorded in Roll20. It'll have disadvantage on it's next attack.
Still waiting for Arus to make his save.
Still waiting for Davroar to go.
Bern can go. Remember, the Otyugh still has cover. Bern also has to subtract 1d4 from any attack roll and has 1 chance to add 1d4 for an attack from Sindar's bardic inspiration.

Davroar

Unable to see or hear much of anything stuck down in the shaft, all he will do is 'wiggle' his flaming sphere a bit to let everyone know he is still alive. He does not want to call out too loud though just in case one of those fishy looking creatures decide to drop a rock on his head.

Arus

If she had been leading innocent men and women into this hell-hole, the Lady in Purple might have gotten off lightly with a swift execution by her overseers. But Arus has no time to dwell on the whys and wherefores of his situation, as the writhing mass of teeth and tentacles keeps him focused on staying alive and whole.

His sword and shield danced like partners, each offering defence and offence to the monster.

[I think Arus is immune to disease, Neptune. Paladin ability.]

OOC: Otyugh base AC: 14. +5 for cover. -2 for slow. Total=17 AC. Bern rolled a 15. HOWEVER.... The DM rolls for bane...
Bern Bane effect on his shot
Neptune rolled 1d4 and got 1
So total of 18 AC.
Bern can still use the bardic inspiration granted from Sindar. It's a 25% chance. You may elect to roll the 1d4 and if you roll a 4, it hits.
Let me know
