This isn't a review but me wondering if anyone has read, heard or even played it?
The marketing itself is a bit mysterious but the thing that stood out to me is that it's a silent role-playing game. You play characters that are texting each other about the disappearance of Alice, so that's what you do.
Of course, what could work by text could work by forum.
Reminds me of a more structured Fiasco. More like How to Host a Mystery than an RPG. I could see it working on here as long as someone owns all the cards, etc, but it honestly seems overly complicated. Like they call it GM-less but then there are a lot of rules that an adjudicator would need to make sure are followed.
I appreciate the attempt to change things up with new technological opportunities. I might watch one of the actual play videos though to get a real idea of if this is fun or not.
Nem, use one of the web apps. I use Messages for Google, which hooks my texts from my Android phone to Google Messages. It tends to drain my phone faster than I like, but it stays connected and allows me to use a full-sized keyboard and still text.
Nice idea, Pandemonium. We have a smartphone at work that we use for tech support video calls and I have that linked up to Google's Messages for Web. Works a treat.
And I guess if you just setup a server in Discord, you could create multiple chat rooms and everyone could run on that using the Discord phone all or their laptops.
But like Vryx said, it's high concept. Even if it worked the once, what would be the replayability?
I gave up on =all= the 'accessories' a long time ago. Rings were a pain when I was 'at the keyboard' 8 to 10 hours a day. And a watch would often catch on the edge of the keyboard and was uncomfortable in any event <shrug>
MikeD, I guess we'll never drag you into the 21st century LOL. One similarity between us is the lack of accessories. No watch. No rings. No nothing. Annoying.
I love my watch. PITA to take out a phone to see what time it is compared to glancing down at my wrist. Of course I mostly use my phone for actually making PHONE CALLS, so I guess I am just a dinosaur.
Ummmmm ... what about that cell phone in your pocket Zeim?? A =real= Luddite would =never= have such a thing. Oh ... and there =is= all that 'internet' stuff you are engaging in. <gd&r lmao>
That's why I am a Neo-luddite. And I mainly use the phone to make phone calls. If I could get by at my job without having to check email when I am away from my keyboard and if others did not text me, forcing me to text replies, I would get rid of the smartphone in a minute.
You miss the point <g> You leave the cell in your pocket with all the 'notifications' disabled. Then ... on break ... when you get home ... you review what you got. I can tell you that 'the world will not end' if you wait a few hours to reply <weg>
