He turns slightly and shakes his head in reply to Kriv, "No, just natural beasts."

Wincing with some pain he stands back up, and says to Jaliera, "Let's get out of here first. I would rather bathe in the river...", he does not know the other spellcaster name as he directs his next words to Kolbaz and apologetically says, "No disrespect for your offer of clean water, but I'll feel better there."

The two young nobles were not conscious when Arus laid his hands on them and remained so after. Somehow his healing was ineffective. It wasn't until Bronwyn explained that the needed to be in water to be healed that they were revived enough to be brought from the brink of death.

A short while into the post-battle cleanup several of the town militia known as the Shields of Yartar descend into this lower level of the sewers. Evidently they were already in the sewers, accompanying Kolbaz and Bronwyn. There were a dozen of them and they quickly took care of escorting the two young men out.

Meanwhile, Kriv and Arus, while looking about the structure that held them captive in the western end of the aboleth’s lair, they find the compiled treasures of its noble victims. There are three neatly folded noble attires, each gaudy and expensive and now soaking wet with sewer water, as well as pouches containing a combined sum of 92 platinum pieces, 108 gold pieces, 45 silver pieces, two tourmalines (100gp each) and a single emerald. There’s also a pair of boots and what looks like musical pipes.

Additionally you find Artan Rossolio’s lost pendant, resplendent with its capital R engraved in emeralds on an onyx disk. Lastly, there’s ten Golden Goose coins, each worth 10gp.

The priestess, Bronwyn, indicates that the nobles are being taken to the Happy Hall of Fortuitous Happenings for treatment. They will be cared for there.


OOC: Pande hasn't responded to a PM by me a few days ago but there's little reason to not move on. He'll catch up. I guess it's time for you all to tell me how you intend to spend the next few days.

OOC: Bronwyn will cure one of the two nobles today and the other one tomorrow, and then Zhu and Davroar the next two days. And have private conversations with a few of the adventurers.

The expectation is that Mother Bronwyn will have healed the two lordlings as well as Zhu and Davroar after three night's sleep. The combined healing powers of the party can work miracles in three days.

After finding out that the party had battled an aboleth, the wizard Kolbaz recalls that aboleth mucous was a key ingredient needed to make potions of water breathing. That potion is important in a town like Yarter where they can be used to repair hulls of boats and to clean the bottom of the Dessarin River that flows south and is the western border of the city of Yartar. Arus knows all about such things - it was why he had developed a relationship with the Lionshield Coster mercantile enterprise. His talents (breathing under water) were put to good use before he went on a business trip to Triboar. It would take a few days but Kolbaz was quick to offer such a potion to each member of the party that fought the aboleth - five of them. One each for Bern, Sindar, Kriv, Davroar and Zhu. He did not offer one to Arus because he clearly didn't need it and he didn't offer one to Jaliera because, as he stated bluntly, "She didn't fight the aboleth".

The kuo-tao also had weapons that interested the party. They each wielded a pincer staff which needed to be used 2-handed. On a successful hit, there was a chance they could use it to grapple their opponent.

The Waterbaron was going to be very interested in what happened here. A visit to her was certainly on the three day plan (and probably needed to happen sooner than later to insure that she was not an afterthought in the party's minds). Then there was Lady Dezhia Rossilio who had offered an award.

But above all else, the party needed to get cleaned up. They stank and were soaked in sludge from head to toe. As they emerged from the sewers they were met by a familiar face, Zindra, their scout and guide. Her reaction, when the party emerged from the dark sewers was relief. Her sincere concerns had been allayed. The companions soon learned that it was Zindra who had called in the assistance. She had covertly kept a lookout for her employers and when they emerged a look of worry was washed away and replaced by a broad smile. Zindra walked up to Bern when he climbed into the street, and with her finger wrapped in a small hand towel she wiped away a glob of excrement that was stuck on his cheek. "How delightful," she quipped.

OOC: We're going to need to decide what to address first, by whom and when. I'm OK with the party splitting up at this point in the city. I think you have enough choices of things to do but let me not rein you in.

If you're talking about Zhu, she was down to 4 hps left but just got 19 from another spell. In any case, I think you can save it. She now has a buffer in case there was any danger encountered on the way out, and since she will be resting for 3 nights she'll be fine. You recover all your HPs after one Long Rest.

Davroar

Finally getting out of the sewers is a welcome relief as he takes in a deep breath of clean air. Were it not for the constant burning sensation that he is barely keeping under control with his damp fur and hide armour, Davroar would have found this a pleasant night. Instead, he will offer his quick thanks to Zindra, Bronwyn, and Kolbaz for showing up and for the healing, before making way for the rivers edge to clean up.

Arus

With the hostages secure and under armed escort, Arus turns his attention to the chamber.

"Oosith cannot have entered this chamber from anywhere but the river." he says to the rest of the party.

It's stating the obvious. The implication is that the large drain the merrow fled down must lead to the river.

"I'll map the sewer to the river." the triton says, testing his grip on his trident.

"I shall see you back at the Pearl for a dunk in clean water perhaps." he winks, "Don't wait up."

With that Arus dives headfirst into the murky waters below, quickly disappearing from sight.

Jaliera

She will thank Zindra once she knows that she sent help but her focus over the next few days is Davroar until he is cured of the disease.

Zhu

"Please bring the items you'd like me to examine to my room at the inn. I could use something to do while I am in the bath anyway."

While she spends a few days waiting for the Priestess to Cure her she examines the potential magic items.

Zindra

The party scout turns towards Jaliera who thanked her. She looked at Jaliera for a moment and did not answer. The look on her face turned from jovial to serious.

"I was doing my job for the team. When I saw you go down into the sewers after that woman died, I knew that there was trouble so I called for help. Is that what you were doing? The Captain of the Shields said that you were running towards the exit."

The question was likely to land as an accusation but was not shocking. Zindra always spoke her mind. She did not let Jaliera respond. This was not the time or the place. So she changed the subject without allowing interruption. "Davroar is right. He needs to stay in the river until wit is his turn to get healed. So unless you're a water-breather too, we should get back to our rooms, clean up and get some rest. You're gonna need to see the Waterbaron tomorrow. But hey, Bern, let's you, me and Jaliera escort Davroar to the river. The others can go with Zhu to the temple. I want to hear what happened down there. It sounds like you fought something terrible!"

OOC: As an FYI everyone, I'll be playing Zindra while Aquadyne runs his segment which comes up after we leave Yartar. (Notice the word "we").

Sindar

Sindar is willing to offer his talents to heal as needed as well.

Getting cleaned up is his first priority after healing his companions.

He is happy to go on whatever errands are necessary. Yes, he wants to collect the reward for the return of the noble. Yes, he wants to inform the water baron as to what has happened.

Davroar

Not wanting to overburden Zhu too much, he will hand over the dagger he found, but will hang onto the studded leather armour for now.

Zindra's insinuation that Jaliera was running away from the fight makes him pause and look at Zindra with a slight distasteful look. He holds his tongue though, knowing whatever he might say would probably come out wrong.

Jaliera

As soon as she has the chance to set the record straight, she does so. Already the 'rescuers' had a bad opinion of her but Zindra counts more as she is a part of them.

"We came up with a plan, knowing that the area was going to flood. We didn't have enough waterbreathing to cover everyone. One short. So we decided that I was the least useful in that situation. It was hard to stay out of it but in theory I could do more out of it. Anyway from what I could hear I was getting increasingly concerned so I went to get help but met them coming in, thanks to you."

She smiles, all too aware how it might have looked.

Zindra

"Alright then," she says with a sigh, looking at Bern and Jaliera. "Let's get a bucket of get Davroar to the river before his skin blisters like that kid we brought in. It's a short walk. Then I'm heading back to the Wink and a Kiss for me. It's way past my bedtime."

It is about 2 am. .Sindar, Kriv and Arus are left to escort Zhu to the Happy Hall of Fortuitous Happenstance. From there, those three need to head back to their rooms at Pearl Handled Pipe. That is where they have rooms.

ooc: The wife and I are going to be away for the weekend and I decided not to take my laptop so consider me off-line until Monday morning.

I would like to know, from everyone, where you are going when you wake up. Please post (in-character) what you are doing.

Sindar

He nodded in agreement with the plan, and was happy to escort Zhu so she could be taken care of.

Once they had taken care of those things that must be done, he too would like to return to his rooms at The Pearl Handled Pipe and catch a little rest and meditation before morning's light signaled a new day.

<Bern>

He nods, happy to be of help with something other than his sword arm. "Here", he said to Davroar offering a shoulder. "Lets get you 'cleaned up'", he said with a grin.

Jaliera

She decides to stay with Davroar. Although they won't be able to talk much with him in creature form, she and Whisper will provide an overwatch on him.
