So, many years ago, there was a tv show that lasted for one season, the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo.

The ghoulish fun included Shaggy, Scooby, and Daphne- along with Vincent Price.

But it never finished.

Now, 2019, the final ghost still is out there- the long awaited conclusion to that brief series.

Anyone else remember the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo?

Any other big Scooby fans out there?

"Rooby roo!"

Absolutely remember them. And there was even a live action movie. Thanks for the link. I had not heard about this yet.

Mike,

grin

There were five live action movies made- 2 for the movies with Prinze and Geller, and 3 for television.

Plus a ton of newer Scooby movies.

Yes I am a fan!

I just thought it was great that they finished off the 13 Ghosts story-line, though sadly without Vincent Price.

Uh... I suppose I could admit that I've never seen any Scooby thing as far back as I can remember. smile
Posted By: Don Re: Scooby-Doo 13 Ghosts - Fri 24/05/19 21:39 UTC
I was 17 when Scooby Doo came out, admittedly in 1969 17 was a lot younger than it is now but I was right at that age where you didn't watch cartoons anymore. Despite that fact I saw the odd Scooby Doo here and there but never followed it with any loyalty cause they were, you know, for kids.

But now that I am officially entering into my second childhood (I am currently watching The Adventures of Superman, Batman, The Green Hornet, Time Tunnel, Kolchack the Night Stalker and Buck Rogers in the 25th century on my local TV channels) I thought I might check them out, especially since we are now into the summer blahs so I went into Netflicks and there is nothing there.

Not that surprising really, now that I have Netflicks and can watch it on my TV rather than my computer, it just isn't what it used to be. There are hardly any movies any more and half of their so called original programming are foreign TV shows. Which doesn't mean they are bad just that they are not original to Netflicks and now they've lost all the Marvel stuff.

Don,

The two first Live Action Scooby movies cycle through Netflix periodically- They show up for two or three months, leave for a couple of months, then show up again.

Give it time.

Also try "The Order" on Netflix, it's fun. So is The Magicians, in a more trippy kind of fun way.

And you are never too old for Scooby-Doo.

If you check your local channels, I bet they have some of the TV shows going.

Don ... I got ya beat by a year or two ... and I have to say ... I have always loved animated shows!!

Anyone else old enough to remember Benny and Cecil ... Tom Terrific ... Atom Ant ... weeellll ... it is a long list <wink>

Gryph ... none of them are available for streaming on NetFlix at the moment ... but I will keep watching <g>

Crusader Cat, Touche Turtle, Q.T. Hush, Dick Tracy (with the Peter Gunn theme playing), Ruff and Ready and my main man Top Cat.

I'm older than Don and MikeD, but I do remember just about every one MikeD and Don mentioned like Tennessee Tuxedo, Quick Draw McGraw, Yogi Bear with BooBoo, Huckleberry Hound, Augie Dogie and Dogie Daddy and Chilly Willy.

I still miss The Bullwinkle and Rocky show.

Ex, I figured everybody knows the Hanna Barbera cartoons. Was trying to go for some of the lesser remembered ones. When I was young I really like Augie Doggie and Augie Daddy, Pixie and Dixie and Snagglepus. "Exit stage left."
Posted By: Exeter Re: Scooby-Doo 13 Ghosts - Sat 25/05/19 18:06 UTC
My favorites were always the Warner Brothers cartoons. grin

Anything with that "wascally wabbit" is good <g>
Posted By: Gryphon Re: Scooby-Doo 13 Ghosts - Sat 25/05/19 19:27 UTC
I grew up on Scooby re-runs, Josie and the Pussycats, the Archies, Funky Phantom, Gilligans Planet, Speed Racer, etc.

Of course my mind was also twisted by Sid and Marty Kroft (Land of the Lost, H. R. Puffnstuf, Dr. Shrinker, Wonderbug, the Bugaloos, Sigmund the Sea Monsters, etc).

Near the end of childhood came G-Force and Star Blazers starting my love of Anime.

Warner Brothers was wonderful, but the really wacky fun shows of Hanna Barbera always afforded a fun time.

Well I knew -you- were a Scooby fan, but you weren't here this past week to comment on the thread!

Uh-huh, nice save Gryph smile and Mike, I thought my closing line would give things away! I have always loved the Velma character on Scooby.

So looks like there only only a couple Scooby fans on here! Wow! I would have thought way more, but then I am blessed to work with a few Scooby-Doo fans. September will be Scooby's 50th birthday btw!

Don, and anyone else lurking, check out your local library! Most of us have the Scooby-Doo shows. It all began with Scooby-Doo where Are You! but the "new" Scooby Movies were were amazing as well. Tons of cameo appearances by, then, huge stars like Dick Van Dyke, Sandy Duncan, Don Knotts, etc. I think you would like the show, it is a little pulpy at times, tons of adventure, and a fun mystery to solve each episode.

Scooby-Doo has influenced tons of things in popular culture... like Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's worth a watch, out of respect if nothing else smile

Darn! I just checked Hoopla Digital, and they do not have the tv shows.

For those of you lurking, a lot of libraries now subscribe to Hoopla Digital, which allows downloading and streaming of e-books, music, television shows, as well as movies. All for free thanks to your local libraries! TONS of good stuff on there (just not videos of Scooby-Doo).

Mina, I liked Velma too. She was the most 'normal' (at least in terms of what I could relate to <wink>) of the 'crew'. Now I am going to have to go re-watch 'em all <vbg>

FWIW ... those of you with NetFlix ... there are a lot of those shows available for DVD subscribers.
Posted By: Mina Re: Scooby-Doo 13 Ghosts - Sun 26/05/19 23:56 UTC
Mike, I agree, but then Velma was amazing. Though, Daphne always came a close second! They did nick-name her Danger-Prone Daphne for a reason... if I was investigated along with the Scoobies, I am sure I would be the one always getting captured by the bad guy smile

And thanks for the reminder about Netflix DVD options!
Posted By: MikeD Re: Scooby-Doo 13 Ghosts - Mon 27/05/19 00:10 UTC
The thing that I liked about Velma is that she was the most 'real' of the characters. The others felt like 'stereotypes' <g>
Posted By: Mina Re: Scooby-Doo 13 Ghosts - Mon 27/05/19 00:48 UTC
Very true, they were pretty stereotypical, but that was the point. Still, lots of good fun!
Posted By: Don Re: Scooby-Doo 13 Ghosts - Mon 27/05/19 00:52 UTC
I've seen the live action movies, I have been a Matthew Lillard fan since Summer Catch. And the odd Scooby Doo cartoon, enough that I know about Scooby snacks and "rooby roo!" Though I always thought they took Scooby snacks from Quick Draw McGraw's 'tracking' hound Snuffles, the one who floated up in the air after eating a dog biscuit.

I just thought it might be fun to watch them in order. But I have to admit that I am tempted to get the Brave and Bold DVD that teams Batman and Scooby Doo from the library. I watched most of the Brave and Bold cartoons but not all and I don't remember that one.
Posted By: Mina Re: Scooby-Doo 13 Ghosts - Mon 27/05/19 01:12 UTC
The Scooby Gang has teamed up with Batman a couple of times. They were even on an episode of Supernatural. If Brave and the Bold intrigues you, start there!
