Another of the greats passes.

Best known for Emerson Lake and Palmer, but those first two King Crimson albums are milestones in rock history, especially the first.

Wow, one of the greats. ELP was one of those groupings that made wonderful music but just couldn't get along. Great music though.

I still have my copies of those two King Crimson CDs ... that replaced the original LPs ... and still get them out and listen to them from time to time and they still touch me <g> That music was so important in expanding my musical landscape.

It has certainly been a terrible year <sigh>

I played Brain Salad Surgery (the album) on a loop last night.
Sadly, Keith Emerson took his life earlier this year.

Wow ... I completely missed Emerson's passing <sigh> A brutal year <sigh>

Yeah. And Emerson's passing was very troubling. He shot himself because he had nerve damage in his hands and worried about how he could no longer perform.

It sounded like there was more than just the nerve damage ... although that could have been the 'trigger' for the depression and alcohol problems that were mentioned.

That once came quite close to home for me; Anne-Marie Helder of Panic Room, who I've got to know quite well over the years, was a personal friend of Keith Emerson.
