Content to guard while his new friend is cared for, he looks about. To him, the corridor with the built wall looks more interesting than the natural cave formation where the stirges came from.
Groaning, he sits up and looks around in the gloom.
"Thank you, you saved my life again!" He says to his friends, nodding to the marvellous Ryssa.
Patting himself down, Chandan feels a wet pack and gasps. The damage is worse than he thought!
He pulls the flask of poteen from his pocket, a hole pierced in it by the stirges.
The monk grumbles, picks up his spear and stands, kicking one of the dead stirges.
He could have used a drink after the awful memories that he stirred in him! For now, he looks to throw himself into danger again.
"Beneath the earth, air and water will guide us." He says. A mine will have many dead-ends and loops, and they aren't surveyors. They must choose their path wisely and stick to it.
Chandan listens for the sounds of flowing water, and feels for the flow of air, though his impulse is to continue in the direction they have taken.
With the blood-suckers all dead, and Chandan revived, the heroes start looking about. They can see a cavern to the east and as their eyes focus and they study the place it they can see that many tunnels intersect at the natural, thirty-foot-high cavern.
Looking northward, the stone walls are man-made, not natural. And in those ten-foot wide passageways, the ceiling height is only six-feet high. Taller members of the party (Luminmorn and Kriv) will be hindered here ooc: Translated: In melee, you will have disadvantage. At the end of the passageway you can see that it turns east and west but that you could turn north quickly after you turned rught, if you wend that way.
DM Jaliera attempts to climb down into the pit to join the others but she is unable to keep hold of the rope, falls badly and is hurt. She's able to get up and sees the torch that Davroar left wedged in the wall.
OOC: That came awfully close to a broken leg!

"Ah, but he is here, Sir Chandan," she murmured, smiling as she lifted her holy icon slightly toward him. Then she heard a noise from behind her and turned to look, just in time to see Jaliera get to her feet.
OOC: I placed Jaliera in the pit on the map in Roll20. There are 4 directions that you can go. I included a screen shot of the map. Note that when you get to 2-3 there are likely more choices than is apparent now.
He squints, peering at the symbol but before he can get a good luck that damned rope claims another victim.
Like Bern, he rushes to Jaliera's side, helping her to her feet if need be.
"I do not think Kriv Norixius meant anyone to copy that move." He says to her lightly, then more gravely, "I am sorry I could not save our feathered friend."
He turns to look when he hears Jaliera has taken a fall but stops short when he sees that both Bern and Chandan are there to help her up. When she regains her feet with no serious wounds he will turn back to look up the man-made passage, pats the smooth wall and says, "I'd agree, Kriv. This 'forge of spells' we're looking for is more likely up this way."
Davroar figures the forge is probably not stuck in some obscure dark hole or dead-end natural cavern, given the story he has heard about it so far.
[ooc: I moved Jaliera and Bern towards the rest of the team. If either of you are taking the torch that Davroar planted, let me know. Otherwise, I'll leave it where it is.
