Chandan

He nods amiably in greeting to their new friends, almost forgetting to introduce himself since he's rather accustomed to being solitary or ancillary, one or the other.

"My name is Chandan from the Katakoro Shan, humble student of the Way of the Five Elemental Fists." He says.

Encouraged to see his party's numbers growing after losing Kallista, he feels as though a toast is in order. Unfortunately he drank all of his beverages on the road to Thundertree; he can barely remember the journey north.

This does remind him of their purpose.

"Tell me, you are friends of Lingo. I met him in the Driftwood Inn and he bought me drink. You see, by fortune's chance, we both knew Gundren Rockseeker. Do you?"

Davroar

He takes two of the daggers, leaving one for Jaliera, and the healing potion. The gold is split evenly enough, taking his share even though he might just give it to someone more in need the next time he is in a town since he can live off the land most of the time.

Davroar suggests that they split Kallista's rations as well to replenish what they have already consumed in getting here.

Ryssa


The cleric nodded in response to the monk's question.

"Yes, we knew Gundren Rockseeker and have been searching for him for quite some time now."

Then Ryssa frowned as she remembered something Kriv had said. She looked toward the newly met dragonborn.

"If you do not mind telling us, just who is it that you oppose?"

(OOC - Posting this here as well: After searching the Cultists, you find normal equipment (Short Swords and Leather armour). Favric has a hand crossbow, a Short Sword, Studded Leather, and a Potion bottle (untested). They have a total of 90 gp among them.)

[Everyone gets 15 gp extra then. Chandan will taste the potion to identify, since he is in need of a drink. ]

Jaliera

"Good idea on the rations Davroar."

She smiles at him. Then hears what the female cleric says.

"We are looking for Gundren too. He hired us for a job but has gone missing. We think we know where he is being held and are intending to head that way."

(OOC - Taking a sip of the Potion Chandan can identify it as a Potion of Flying.)

[[ just curious ... how many 'identifying sips' can ya take from a potion before you don't have enough for it to work?? <weg> ]]

<Bern>

Satisfied that he had done the best he could for his fallen friends here, he turned to the others. "So now, in 'celebration' of Lingo, shall we see the dragon left behind?"

[I'd say it works on your last sip, MikeD. Magic is uncanny that way! Chandan will give the Potion of Flying to Bern. He has the biggest bow. ]

Chandan

Waste not want not. He takes the rations from Davroar with thanks, and a prayer for Kallista.

Ryssa looks like a fine young lady with a vocation to do the right thing. Chandan's pleased they all seem to working towards the same goal, and treading the same path to get there.

"We have learned that Gundren is captive in Cragmaw Castle, on orders of the one known as Black Spider." He explains, before stratching his matted grey bonnet. "We would rescue him if only we knew where Cragmaw Castle was."

[[ well then ... doesn't every sip work?? <weg> ]]

<Bern>

"We may be able to help there. I think we have some come across some information that will help us find him."

[[ if that =isn't= true ... lemme know and I will edit <g> ]]

Kriv

"No need. We actually do have the location ourselves, and were headed there before we found the information about the dragon. Sometimes our colleague here can be... forgetful."

Perhaps a far nicer way of putting it than he would have before the malodorous human had tended to the fallen with obvious expertise, but he had no doubt that once the drunkard got a chance to restock his beverages, the undertone to that description would become clearer.

He unfurled his notes, revealing the information they had obtained from the Thayvian as to their destination and showing it to the newcomers.

Chandan

For a moment there's a vague recollection... a house in a tree, the eleven banshee, then Old Owl Well--- No, an ogre? So he doesn't remember, but he does remember the white cider he bought for the trip from Phandelin. That was good stuff!!

Chandan smiles cheerily anyway. Despite sad losses, they have bolstered their strength and know where to seek Cragmaw Castle.

Meanwhile, since they are re-equiping, Bern's suggestion to search the dragon's lair seems very pertinent, so the monk ambles off to have a look.

He comes walking back soon after. "Where is the dragon's lair?" He asks Bern.

Jaliera

She smiles at Chandan.

"Well I for one would like to do this before the dragon finds a way to heal and return. I assume the tower is the most likely place?"

The dragon was perched on it and not likely to be far from its hoard.

<Bern>

"That, and the fact that the dragon =did= take it badly when Lingo went in, uninvited, looking for souvenirs", he said with a melancholy smile.

"But I agree that we should not expect the creature to stay away for long. If we are to explore the place we should be about it quickly."

Jaliera

"Perhaps as we go we should introduce ourselves more fully?"

She starts towards the tower.

"I am.. or hope to be.. an explorer and investigator of ruins and such places. I work for my mentor, a mage and a sage. I am good with a bow, have developed some magic ability and am very good at sneaking around, getting in and out of places."

GM

The tower is nearby, at the top of the hill, so is quickly reached. You can see it is a round tower with a cottage attached. Both are in good condition, although half of the tower's roof is gone. A door leads into the cottage and several arrow slits are visible in thew tower. The door is currently closed,. and the last time Lingo tried it, it was stuck and needed to be yanked open by hand. Lingo was not strong enough. You know Lingo went around back to get inside.

He headed around back since that is where Lingo gained entry.

Ryssa


Ryssa followed her ranger friend around to the rear of the tower.

Davroar

He follows along with Jaliera up the hill to the tower.

"Should be careful still. The dragon might have traps to protect its treasures?"

Luminmorn

He followed them, though his thought was there were places the little Lingo could go that they might not. Yet they could try the door later, if they lived that long.

"I am called Luminmorn. I am a warrior of the Great Dragon."

Jaliera

"Good point Davroar."

She considers her own skill set as to how much she can offer.

"Well met Luminmorn."

[OOC Zeim, I looked at the book but can't work out what skill covers traps. Think you might have told me this before ]

(OOC - Gypsy - Your Thieves Tools skill is used for Traps and Locks.)

GM

Moving around the back you can see a second door, smaller than the main door, and it is cracked open. It appears dark beyond.

Jaliera detects no traps around the door.

[OOC Great I can do that in spades! ]

Jaliera

"Don't see any traps on the door. Do you guys want me to go in front to check things out?"

She is not as confident with this group as she is with those she has been travelling with.
