Kriv

He raised his voice to be heard, but kept his tone flat, letting his words echo through the space.

"If Droop comes forth where we can see him, we will let him live. If Droop forces us to search this place for him... He knows what Mosk One Eye did to him. He knows how much worse I could be than Mosk One Eye if he gave me cause. Does Droop want to try my patience, and gamble his life?"

The Dragonborn flared his nostrils and inhaled, as if he could track the goblin by scent alone.

Davroar

After hearing Kriv announce that Droop has run away, he will try to see if he can catch the goblin's scent in the unlikely event the goblin fled this way. More than likely though is that it went to warn any remaining thugs that they have intruders. Davroar will continue to carefully explore, but will stay within line of sight of his friends.

Please provide me with an active perception roll for Davroar using the senses of the bear

DM
Davroar first peeks around the corner and then north into the opening. The corridor to his left leads to a staircase down. At the end of the staircase there's another corridor that ends with a door to the south that likely leads into the room where the Redbrand Ruffians were drinking and gambling. There's a door opposite it to the north that is closed.

The area is the north end of the natural cavern with the crevasse, but it has been finished with dressed stone block walls and a flagstone floor. Several barrels are stored against the walls here, along with a number of empty crates, straw for packing, hammers, prybars, and nails.

Sniffing around, the bear realizes, with all certainty, that this particular goblin has left the building. His scent has disappeared. The most likely scenario is that he left through the secret tunnel that the young halfling Carp, Qelline's son, had led you to.

You could track him or let him go.

Davroar

No matter how small or unassuming Droop appeared to be, he is not about to let the goblin get away to cause trouble elsewhere.

Following the goblins scent, he stops briefly to indicate with his nose to the others the direction Droop went. Davroar will then take off at a good pace only to slow down only if he looses the scent.

Jaliera

"Davroar, let it go. He's obviously heading out the way we came in. We need to go further into this place to solve the problem for the villagers."

She is concerned that the group could split up or be diverted from their main task, giving the brigands more opportunity to regroup or hurt the prisoners they are holding.

Kriv

He nodded his assent.

"Jaleira's right. In the worst case it finds the halfling child that led us here or their playmates. Acceptable losses. It's unlikely to attack bigger villagers on its own, no matter how bitter and vengeful it feels."

The child was a halfing. I'll let the party resolve the fleeing goblin situation before turning back to the wizard and bugbear.

Davroar

He stops in his tracks when Jaliera and Kriv tell him to let the goblin go. Letting out a bear-sized harumph sound, he bows to the groups decision and saunters back to where the bug bear and sleeping wizard are to get a better look at both.

Jaliera's now the only one on the other side of the crevasse. She needs to decide whether to stay there or to do something else.

Meanwhile, Kriv, Davroar, Kallista and Chandan have a sleeping mage and Mosk One-Eye to deal with.

The bugbear that has submitted to Kriv's wrath and has started to talk about the "Black Spider".

There's an immediate need to deal with the prisoners. The mage is waking up.

She is not sure just yet which way they are going, so she stays where she is giving her a clear line of sight all around.

"See if you can get some idea of this place and who else is here and where they are."

She calls across to her companions. If they can eliminate the threat, they can explore at leisure.

Kriv

Reaching back into his pack for some rope, he indicates to the bugbear to take up a position to have its hands tied behind it and to be hobbled. He offered some to Chandan in order to secure the sleeping wizard as well. Turning back to the Bugbear,

"You will tell us everything you know of the remaining disposition of forces in this place, and describe the layout. You will tell us everything you know of the Black Spider and the forces under his command. You will tell us everything you know of Cragmaw Keep and the forces presently there."

He nudges the wizard with a toe.

"Hey, best not to move, someone left a spear standing on your back." He says, tapping tip of the spear between the man's shoulder blades.

"Ah thank you!" He says to Kriv, accepting the rope and getting to work on tying his captive.

"We were the bugbears. Humans here - the Redbrands. We sent were here to sure know do their job. Keep humans controlled. Black spider dangerous elf. King Grol rules Cragmaw. Goblins and hobgoblins and pets there."

This seems to be an honest assessment from the bugbear, as best he understands it.

Mage

He hears the bugbear speak and spits at it.

"You will taste the Black Spider's poison!"

He responds to Chandan's instructions by saying, "Who do you think you are? Move that spear!"

He smiles apologetically at the wizard.

"I am insignficant nobody; don't even outrank spear, so can't move it, very sorry."

She taps the mage on the head with the new staff. "Be more respectful. You are in no position to be demanding anything."

Mage

You can see he's seething and scheming but he just gnashes his teeth as he contemplates ways to get freed. Bound as he is, it'll be extremely difficult for him to escape.

Knowing that a fair bit of magic requires deft hands he 'accidentally' steps on the Mages right right with almost all of his 200 kg weight. A broken hand should keep the mages mind away from trying anything stupid.

He had considered threatening to remove the mage's fingers as an intimidation tactic, but in this case an object lesson had the added value in making duplicity harder. He nodded in approval to the bear.

"The Black Spider is not here. I am. If you continue to be uncooperative, you will lose things which I assure you you will miss until you see the value in submitting. If this is insufficient, you will be left in a state where you will beg for the most agonizing of the Black Spider's toxins, for that at least will grant you the eventual respite of death, thus ending your suffering."

She can hear the conversations taking place and is not altogether comfortable with them. However, she is a realist and knows that the villagers must come first and then they need to rescue their dwarven employer. Sometimes life can be tough. She is just glad she doesn't have to do it herself. Instead she stands guard over them all.

The mage screams in absolute agony as the bones in his hand crack under the pressure of the bear claw.

Dugan: Davroar needs to provide me with a damage roll. Use the damage of one claw attack.
AJ: Kriv needs to provide me with another intimidate roll. Roll it with advantage because of the pain he's feeling

Using his claws regular attack damage is 2d6+4 so I figured just roll one die and half the bonus as his intent was to injure not kill.

Davroar Single claw attack on mage
Dugan rolled 1d6+2 and got 7

The wizard backed down from the angry dragonborn. He was ready now to surrender and with his hands tied behind his back, he had little choice. Kriv has not asked him any questions yet, so he sat in silence. The bugbear has already spilled his guts, telling you what he knows.

Gypsy, please give me an active perception roll. If it's lower than your passive perception, we'll use that as the "floor" for your roll.
