It's a long job, and it's long past sunset by the time all the cargo is safely within the dome. The cordon on the west bank remains, as Fareyn tells Karogeth than the plan now is to dismantle the wreckage of the airship itself, and recover everything that can be salvaged.

Karogeth

Bone-weary, the Karazthani acknowleged the refinement of the plan with a nod, as salvaging everything they could was a necessity.

Karogeth realises it's an awfully long time since he's eaten. Fortunately the Karazthan refectory serves food at all times. The main course for tonight's menu seems to be ulsoghir stew and mash with a rich gravy, which is the sort of thing one wants at a time like this.

Plenty of those who'd been hard at work on the west bank are seated on the ancient wooden benches. Karogeth also notices Danyr, his face covered in scars, and one hand in bandages, eating a bowl of soup with his one good hand.

"If I'd wanted to find myself in the middle of a war, I'd have joined the legion", he says.

Karogeth

Taking a seat near Danyr, setting down his stew and mash, he commented,

"No-one wants to fin themselves in the middle of a war. How much is it we've all lost because of this, as a group? So much that was irreplaceable, so much that cannot be repaired."

He glumly got stuck in, barely tasting it.

"I was with Dalarath when he died", says Danyr, "Flame grenade, fired through the window, Nearly got Lavuyl of The Twelve too".

His scarred face stares at Karogeth. "Why, Karogeth, why? Who is doing this to us?".

Karogeth

He shook his head helplessly: There was little more than speculation and accusation that he could pass on.

"Best guess, it's about power, power and control. As for exactly who? I'll wait for the people at the top to make the call there."

"Someone said that The Legion have arrested Guruinath", he says, "Is it true? And they destroyed the airship. Does this mean that the Legion is making war on us?".

Karogeth

"If there was open war, it wouldn't be a rumour, it'd be all hands to weapons.", he replied.

Danyr looks relieved that at least one threat hasn't materialised, yet.

"And the airship fired on the Academy of the Mind?", he asks, "It seems like all the guilds are involved in this".

Karogeth

"Tell me about it, I was in the Academy at the time.", he commented morosely.

"What happened there?", he asks, "I heard there were a lot of people killed".

Karogeth

"There were. It'd be better to get the story from one in a position to observe: It's hard to take notes when you're trying to keep those around you alive."

"I know", Danyr says, "One moment we have having a few beers after finishing the shift, the next moment all hell breaks loose.

Karogeth

"What was the situation like from this side, then? How much was comprehended at the Dome?", he inquired, morbidly curious as only a technician could be.

"I was not in the dome when everything happened", Danyr says, "I know artefacts from Calbeyn were on board the airship, and they were of great importance, but when the firing started, I was off-duty".

"One odd thing", he says, "There was a priest of Jorlak in the inn. He seemed to want something. I thought he was harmless, but some of the others were suspicious; thought he was spying. I know he survived the explosion, saw him afterwards".

Karogeth

"Interesting. Did you get an inkling of what exactly that priest wanted? or what exactly those artefacts were?", he replied, intrigued.

"Difficult to tell", he replies, "Priests can be enigmatic, and I've never trusted Zardorans. Zardor has an agenda, and I don't know what it is. And this priest is a human; which is rare. How many human priests do you know?"

Karogeth

He wracked his memories, but it felt like forever after recent events. There were some, he was certain, but memory wasn't cooperating, and so he shrugged.

"I'm aware of one or two."

"I don't think I've ever met more than the one", Danyr replies, "Most of the Temples are run by the sorts of Kandar that don't seen humans as any more than clever animals. And few humans trust The Guardians enough to dedicate their life to one of them.

Karogeth

He nodded his assent: Danyr was relaying the popular wisdom as to the ecclesiastical structures. Still, as a man of technology, Karogeth was leery of overzealous approaches.

"For a human priest to start poking his nose into our affairs might mean his Guardian wants to know things. Unless his actions have an innocent explanation".

Karogeth

He shrugged: He could see it from both sides, willing agent or victim of circumstance. It took him a few moments to ponder which applied to him himself...

"Although I heard he helped save survivors and risked his life re-entering the burning building", Danyr says.

Karogeth

Karogeth considered this and postulated,

"Maybe that's why you think he's harmless?"

"I thought he was harmless before", Danyr says, "But there was still something odd about his behaviour. If he was a spy, he'd have been better at not drawing attention to himself.
