The East and the fact that east is "up on the maps" traditionally represents NOT a cardinal direction nor the place where the sun rises. It is a reference to the lands occupied by the Eastern races.

The majority of the population resides in the lands between Talantal and the Sea of Opals. The Great Bankorpool Empire is located in an archipelago even farther to the west.

Thus for most people the lands where the folks who follow Marin, Dieta, Palinate and Forlal are east of where they live.

As the term "East" is geographically tied to a physical location it is possible for The East to be north of your location.

That is why the Road East (the road to Romana's home town) heads north.

Kind of like the Far East being west of San Francisco smile

... folks ... I had a post; after review I decided to edit it and give you a chance to update your post against the minor changes that were edited into my previous message.

Then Nivek posted! Yea!

I went into a full rewrite. I have that full rewrite mostly done (but designed for editing) and am now just waiting for one more thing to be settled before what should be the final edit and posting.

Just as I was finishing my post I looked up and saw Phoenix' shout - just let me know if you aren't going to add anything more!

I'll know if you are because ... well, there will be a post!

And I can then edit mine appropriately.

Give me a chance to see if Keiko or Dazi have anything to say.

who's up? I posted just before the newest GM post so others should go to incorporate my post in with a response to GM post if there is any.

My turn. Sorry. The fibro slammed me really hard this week and messed up my brain while sending my body into a wicked pain spiral. I think I'm feeling a little better today, so hope to get something up for Keiko around lunchtime. Unless work interferes, in which case it will be this evening.

all good. It was a nudge. Gypsy posted that she was offline again so I figured we wouldn't see anything from her. And the GM might wait until someone posted before he replied and I really like my HWD posts on sundays so I figured i would nudge.

I did not know you were fighting the fight.

take care of you

Am fighting many fights -- fibro, bursitis (STEROID SHOTS ARE FUN... no, they really aren't, but maybe it will help, we shall see), recent diagnosis of arthritis in sacral spine, dealing with the ever-changing Chaos that is Grief, and then the normal nonsense that happens as one reaches a Certain Age. This whole "body falling apart" thing is really stupid. I want Ninja's healing factor.

Doing my best to take care!

You state that Bluebell is a little girl, but the statement she makes goes from one gender to the other over two sentences. Maybe we are supposed to be confused by this and there are questions we must ask. if so, that I am content to let Lyric be confused by the words as she sometimes struggles to follow conversations. Just trying to get some clarity or maybe i am misreading it altogether.

<looks at GM and points to Phoenix>

See? SEE??? Jim is proving my points right here. Just because *I* understood what was happening in that specific sentence does not mean anyone else will, even the schmott guy with a big hat.

(I think the point is that we're all supposed to be confused, Jim.)

I'll be off writing not-HWD stuff if anyone needs me. <wanders off to FS>

wolf- I am not sure if you were going to try a midweek post or not- but I am trying to get a reply in for the sunday post- a response to cesare. Life and Work is such a struggle, and my health is feeling it right now. I will do my best to get this in today, maybe around 11 central- seems i have a small window to take a breath there (for now)

actually I am planning on a very simple mid-week post; probably today. That said, all the post will do is have Blue repeat what she said to Cesare and Lyric to Cesare again.

That should not interrupt what you are doing smile

well, it would since Lyric was going to repeat it, and save blue the trouble of saying things a third time... but if you prefer your post that's fine too. work is not co-operating with me at all

1. Hinata’s name isn’t Hinata Cat, it’s Hinata Anzen-sei. Calling him Hinata Cat would be like saying the GM’s name is Mike who is a Human Being. We know he is (because I’m the only Alien From Another Planet in the family). You’re driving Super OCD Woman and the player of Keiko (the person who gave him his name) crazy. Crazier.

2. As I have mentioned to the GM (who refuses to believe me or accept the fact), I need to take a break. It’s likely that the constant pain I’m in is contributing to my inability to appreciate the farcical nature of this scenario, as well as exacerbating the problem I have with the GM’s complete misreading of Daxia’s state of mind and his erroneous initial message for Keiko. To wit: Dominic knows nothing about Daxia’s sense of humor today, this year... and if the camp is going to have a horde of unexpected “guests,” it’s not the “Grandfathers” who should be warned but the Grandmothers. These two faux pas on the GM’s part have led to some... less than productive conversations that have further reduced my interest in the farce.

3. In re #2, today’s scene that was lifted verbatim from my favorite movie did not help, but rather (in combination with a waking pain level of 8 on the Allie Brosh Pain Scale [I am experiencing a disturbing amount of pain. I might actually be dying. Please help.]) reduced my interest in participating in this not-mystery, not-scavenger hunt, just Thing The Characters Can Do (aka “farce”) even further.

4. Nivek didn’t miss Lyric’s question (or maybe he did). I asked him to leave me (Daxia) alone.

5. My sincere hope is that by putting this note out here in public, the GM will finally believe me and stop trying to pressure me into participating in something that isn’t fun. I would very much appreciate it if the GM would respect my desire to be left completely out of this Thing That Makes No Sense. (Note: It might have had some semblance of logic if the GM had started with the correct base assumptions. Or not. But I’m sure it would have helped. What’s done is done. We’re too far down the road to utter chaos for my brain to find a way to return to a balanced state regarding the scenario.)

6. The aforementioned constant pain has led Super OCD Woman to focus on things that are the most soothing and most distracting from reality, which in this case means Future Shock. While visiting the Rhoni encampment would be lovely, I’m not sure it’s the best idea (although I don’t have a say in the matter, as I’m not participating). I have been tasked with developing the Rhoni culture. That is a task I had barely begun before Dr. Evil sent me into this tailspin and morass of pain. So instead of creating Rhoni culture, I have been rewriting the history of the Xavier School for Gifted Youngers and creating a family tree for a particular family of (mostly) mutants who have a connection with said school. Unless the GM rescinds his offer, anything written about the encampment or the people there may or may not be true. So, you know, take it all with a bucket of salt.

Tomomi chose to use that way of naming, which has been seen before in the speech patterns of the Forest Folk.

As I told you in private, the difference between Grandfathers and Grandmothers is something familiar to Rhoni but not others; it is very likely an example of a native character not being perfect and making a mistake. If he also made a mistake about Daxia's state of mind, fine. That's two. If that part of his plans falls apart, he will just have to deal with it.

I have often paid homage to favorite scenes in my posts, all in good fun. There was also a Wallace and Gromit reference in this post. It wasn't the first time (which you enjoyed) and it won't be the last.

How am I supposed to know you spoke to Nivek? I can't read minds. There's a Cool Hand Luke reference that could be made,

I am not pressuring you. I do have to work around and respond to what has and hasn't been posted. The native characters are reacting and doing as they will. If you feel it being pressured, I apologize, that is not the intent. Let the other players deal with it. As I have said many times this whimsy is not what it's been assumed to be. In fact, it's a departure from the usual serious investigation of cultural ethics that has been the at the core of The Heartwood's major themes and storytelling since the game was first created. Again, let the other players and native characters deal with it.

I certainly do appreciate what you said, about Doctor Evil and your constant pain interfering with your enjoyment of this much lighter side of The Heartwood. I have tried my best to reconcile your issues and understand that you may not be able to be in a place to join the rest until after this scenario has completed. Now that the other players have made their overall actions known, it could be one, maybe two more long posts. As for the Rhoni culture, I offered you that chance because you said you wished to contribute more. That is supposed to be a good thing. If that's not possible for a while then what happens at the camp, if anything happens at the camp, simply becomes another piece of the overall tapestry, to be weighted and balanced and considered. It's always been the case that as The Heartwood develops and gets more detailed things change - even within each incarnation. It's just like I tell our interns - when I red mark a drawing it's not because its wrong per se, it's because we are all working together to a better end. So if you are still interested in helping with the Rhoni culture, we'll just work through things like that.

As I also have said, I really, really do hope you find a better doctor, the summer weather stabilizes and doesn't add to your hurts and the pain is finally able to be dealt with again and vanquished. I don't like it all when you hurt like this and I truly want you to be feeling better.

That's what is most important.

Don't worry for it ... I was just about to post that I think we should wait for you to post - Lyric's reaction to the rascal and his bride should be something we are all looking forward to!
