This topic contains some things that GMs need to know but that were not issues when they were players.

Dice rollers

As a GamesMaster, you can create/edit/delete dice rollers for your game. The Admin button from the dice roller box in your forum will give you the administrative options.

Placing a dice roller link in the banner of a forum still requires a Sysop, although the Dice Roller at the left of the page reduces the need for a banner entry.

Topic starting

Starting a topic is normally restricted to Sysops and the GamesMaster(s). If you want anyone to be able to start a topic in your game, let us know and we'll take care of adjusting the setting.

Inactive games

We normally close inactive games after four weeks with no activity. We do hold them out of view for up to six months after the date of the last post.

Members availability

There is a thread in MSP for posts about member availability. Please post any absences there, and check it for absent players.

Banners

The Sysops can edit the banner of a forum to include links to special topic, dice rollers, and off-site web pages. Just post a request here in GLR . Adding a link to a topic does not interfere with the normal existence of that topic.

Thread control

As a forum moderator, you can now use "Manage Topic" at the top of a topic for added control.

The "Make this topic sticky" option can be used make a topic sticky. If you want a sticky thread to stop being sticky, select "Unstick this topic".

You can use the "Lock this topic" option to end further posts to a topic. Many GMs use this for scenes that have concluded.

If you want to change the title of a topic, it is as simple as editing the first message in the topic and changing the title there.

Advertising

The PLR forum is a good place to post teasers or otherwise advertise for new or replacement players. When recruiting, it is also a good idea to make sure your game is listed as such in the Game List in GLR and in the Games List box on the left (which you can control via the Admin button).

GLR

Two of the regular posts in GLR are the Game List posts. They start with instructions for submitting changes to the Sysop who maintains them. It is a good idea to check the entry for your game(s) on a regular basis (such as whenever those posts are updated).

There is also a Closed Games List thread that you should keep an eye on if you suspend your game for any reason.

Games List

You can adjust the entry your game has in the Games List on the left side of the page. Just go to your game forum, click the Admin button in the Games List box, make any changes, and click Save.
