*** bounces happily ***

Netfix is doing Lenomy Snickett's A Series of Unforntunate Events!

I recommend watching something else. Some happy tale with elves and bunny and trees and wildflowers.

Quote:
In this story there are no happy ending, no happy beginning and very few happy things in the middle.

I'm sorry that's just how the story goes.

... it is a shame it wasn't done on broadway. it is much more taxing playing a handsome man in the live theatre than streaming video!

that said ... i thoroughly enjoyed the bad beginning and it looks like season 2 will get us all the books. for me, it nailed the quirky nature of lemony snickett's narrative style dead on - the translation from written word to visual images was excellently done.

the result is just like the books - something in a style you've never seen, expected or imagined before smile which probably means it will be loved by those who liked the books and hated by those who prefer things more mainstream.

my only concern is how they seem to be handling one portion of the story, which to tell the truth, was ambiguous throughout the series. Well, until the very last word of the very last chapter of the very last book.

but then again, the story of the Baudelaire Siblings is one that has always been told to us ...

... after the fact.

Finished it. My only complaint ... probably based on the fact that I watched the whole series in 2 days ... is that there was a lot of repetition ... commonly associated with the 'refresh' at the beginning of each episode ... more ... annoying since it was done so well, integrated into the show, that there wasn't a good way to 'skip over it'. Sort of a complaint and complement at the same time <g>

Also watching it, on the 5th episode.

The first two episodes did not seem that great to me, however Episodes 3 and 4 were terrific- not sure if it was just the beginning or if it was the mood I was in at the time.

However, greatly enjoying the show now.
