Okay, I had to get that off my chest. "Humans only use 10% of their brains" is a major portion of the trailer - bosh! The one below has a similar line in it, but I'm cursed with the hulu one.

That is a better trailer than the one I have usually seen on TV <g>

Looks like it could be a fun movie. Of course, I have been fooled by trailers before <sigh>

It's Luc Besson.

That should say it all. It's the difference between sci-fi and SF. Now sci-fi can be a real hoot and an excellent way to spend a saturday night (Besson's 'Fifth Element' definitely fits the definition of 'guilty pleasure') but don't go in expecting any level of scientific rigor

Based on the previews, Lucy appears to be what Besson does best - an action film. Like Fifth Element, it too is dressed out in a science fiction costume. This is opposed to something like Elysium, which was the opposite - that film had good SF underpinnings but masqueraded as an action film.

I admit, I am looking forward to Lucy. I don't care for the inaccuracies, I want the fun movie and the popcorn!

I only get 'cranky' about a movie's 'science problems' when they present them as science. It doesn't look like Lucy is doing that at all ... it looks a lot more like fantasy masquerading as SF <wink>

Oh, I'm looking forward to it, and it should be fun. But did they have to say the 10% at all?

That's not even taking an SF concept and expanding it. It's just... wrong.

Of course they had to mention the 10% thing! How else could the 'build' the suspense for the 'what happens at 100%' question <g>

And to be honest, I kind of like the basic 'premise' ... even if I am less than thrilled with the 'how we got there' part. I had not seen the whole 'she was a drug courier' part until the preview above. I would have thought a 'government experiment gone wrong' scenario would have worked better, but ... what can ya do. 'They' aren't smart enough to pay me tons of money to consult on these things <weg>

I like the Drug Courier aspect myself. From the preview I saw, it looks like she is force into being a courier, cut up, etc. against her will.

My only problem with that ... and I say that =not= having seen the movie yet ... is the 'contrived' nature. Who are these people, how do they have this 'drug', why do they need to 'smugle' it? In the previews they show a =lot= of the stuff ... not just a sample.

But again, that is based just on what they chose to show in the trailer. Only after watching the movie will I know for sure <g>
