This is a bit of a shock. We've got used to The Grim Reaper taking people in their 60s and 70s who'd had a long innings. Piotr Grudzinski of Poland's Riverside was just 40.

Riverside are one of the best bands to emerge in the past decade or so, and this one still hasn't sunk in. I think he's the first person I've photographed from the pit (this pic's from 02 Academy Islington in 2014) to have died.

It is all statistics. SRV was only 36, James Dean 24 <sigh> Other celebs survived into their 90s and beyond ... kinda like regular people <weg>

Still I understand the pain and loss when we lose someone we admire!!! I have have noted several losses of late <sigh>
