The chains are falling thick and fast at the moment! Let's see how we do this time around.
Here are the rules as composed originally by Don, iirc.
Player one: Star Wars, Player Two: Mark Hamil, Player Three: Corvette Summer, Player Four: Annie Potts, Player Five: Ghostbusters, etc., etc.
[nemarsde tweak]No repeats within 5 steps and avoid getting caught in a loop with MCU or Fast & Furious movies, for example. Long-running franchises with ensemble casts can allow you go round and round indefinitely.[/nemarsde tweak]
No IMDb please <expect to look up dates of movies with identical titles or spellings of names>. grin
You need to follow the chain as it is drawn, no jumping. If we have Stephen Moyer on the table and someone plays Prince Valiant then the Prince Valiant you have to go out of is the one that had Stephen Moyer in it, no matter how many other movies out there are named Prince Valiant.
A clarification on play. We want to avoid using archival footage. For purposes of our game Dick Clark, Bob Hope, President Kennedy etc. Did not appear in Forrest Gump.
I won't make this a rule but rather a recommendation. Please avoid films that have not been released/aired in the U.S.
And just for the sake of putting it into the written rules mostly for sake of newcomers voice work (animated films) and made-for-TV movies are allowed but not mini-series.
OK, well to celebrate the release of
The Matrix 4 trailer, I give you:
The Matrix
He was in Ant Man and the Wasp
Maleficent - Mistress of Evil
She voiced the porcupine in Sing, and I'm looking forward to the sequel!
Bugger, I know a famous African-American singer who is in that one but no-one else, and she's not in a lot else either! Although she did win an Academy Award for one... I'll hold off for now.
One of the few animated movies I know the voice actors for! Taron Egerton played the gorilla in that one!
I only know him in one other movie, but fortunately it's a good one for other connections. The mind-blowing...
Kingsman: The Secret Service
Ooh nice move, AquaDyne.
Let's play our ace card!
Samuel L. Jackson
The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard!
I saw that at the weekend. Enjoyable if lightweight adventure. Definitely a touch above average, and useful for us contains some famous cameos. Such as Hugh Jackman.
Hugh was in Kate & Leopold!
So was Meg Ryan, my crush since I saw her in the classic movie...
I think your definition of "classic" is different than mine.
Turner Classic Movies showed French Kiss, so it must be a classic, right?
Alright, I'll go. Kevin Kline.
He was in the live action Beauty and the Beast along with …
He was in Murder Mystery!
Is actually in the higher echelon of Netflix Originals, that one. Though I guess that's not saying much.
Terrence Stamp
The only movie of his that I can think off off the top of my head was that horrible Haunted Mansion movie!
I wouldn't call it "horrible" but it's also not my favorite.
But I do know that I nearly jumped in excitement when I saw Wallace Shawn in it!
Inconceivable!
Cary Elwes, of course.
We're men ... we're men in tights (tight tights!)
I was surprised to see Sir Patrick Stewart in that!
Who was in Once Upon a Crime
Lot of good actors in that one. John Candy, Richard Lewis, Cybil Shepard, Sean young, Jim Belushi - but let's go with GEORGE HAMILTON
George Hamilton was in movies?
He was in quite a few though mostly with limited cast appeal. HHmmm I have a couple in mind, but going with something I hope does not kill the game. Eight Heads in a Duffle Bag. Please, someone out there know this movie.
hmmm... I know it might be typecasting but when a guy fits a particular mold and he does it so well... then i say 'stick with it'.... movies about mob guys are always better with Joe Pesci
He was in the amazing movie... My Cousin Vinny!
I happen to remember Ralph Macchio was in that.
Man- we should all know that Charlton Heston, Henry Fonda, Hal Holbrook, Robert Mitchum, James Coburn... and few other names of the day were in this awesome movie.... BUT
I will go with one of my favorite actors... I will watch almost anything he's in...
Tom Selleck!
On the big screen? Pfff, I mean there were the two films with the kid but his co-stars in that weren't in any other big screen hits that I can remember.
So I'm going to go with Quigley Down Under.
love that movie and so I can respond--- but I will give others a chance here. Just know we aren't dying on this movie.
Galaxy Quest
She voiced the main ship's computer in
WALL-E.
Which was a Pixar Movie.
So you know one voice actor, at least, who's a guarantee.
sure, if you know Pixar tradition... but it is a still a narrow path from there. Let's see who else knows
OK OK, I literally only remember this name because of this game and you, AquaDyne.
John Ratzenberger.
Yay!- awesome- Yes, John Ratzenberger is in every Pixar movie in some role- a couple times uncredited- but still in there.
So, the narrow path is another pixar movie that takes us to something like Toy Story... but that's obvious... He doesn't have very many movies of any significance, but does have a rather lengthy list of credits for the work he had done. so, let's go back to his early career (before he was primarily doing voice work)- and before his days on Cheers!
Superman (1978)
Yay!- awesome- Yes, John Ratzenberger is in every Pixar movie in some role- a couple times uncredited- but still in there.
They ended up stopping after 22. He wasn't in Soul, but they did an homage to him with one of the 'souls'. And he wasn't in Luca at all.
That was the one with Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor, I hope.
Gene Hackman's a class act. He retired earlier than I'm sure audiences would've liked but I can't fault his logic and I read that he's living the high life. The Birdcage starred another actor who we lost too soon, sadly not to early retirement. Robin Williams.
Helloooooooo!
Mrs. Doubtfire, which is an awesome new Broadway musical.
Sally Field was in that one!
I just watched Catch Me If You Can again over the weekend!
The Great Gatsby! (whatever year that remake came out)
He was in Tropic Thunder!
Meh. I don't particularly like that movie, but it does provide so many other actors so I can't complain too much.
I'll go to Mrs. Aqua's crush, Matthew McConaughey
Well I was waiting for someone else because I couldn't pick between two outstanding options and one easy one.
I'll go with one of the outstanding: Michael Caine
OK, don't watch this film because it was terrible. But it did give us an official D&D character class, custom made for the lead actor.
The Last Witch Hunter (2015)
vin diesel is the obvious choice. BUT i will go with....
Elijah Wood
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
The Lost Boys. Great film, classic soundtrack.
Just popping in- since i don't too much of a chance to post regularly these days....
Bernard Hughes is a favorite character of mine- ever since watching Lost Boys. His classic line at the end has stuck with me and I even included a variation of it at the end of the Cube Cube adventure I recently wrote: The Dreadmist Curse
One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach, all the damn vampires.
So... he was also in the original version of TRON from 1982.
Over a week with no solve... I think Pleasantville got the better of us!
You're up for the next round then, Mina. Try to give us a Hallowe'en theme!
